8:40 A.M.
It was nice and sunny yesterday. I was able to go outside in my shirtsleeves. Twenty four hours sure can make a difference. Today it is colder, windy, overcast, and threatening to rain. All in all, it's pretty gloomy.
This is one of those days when I'd like to sit in front of the fireplace with a good mystery book, and enjoy the warmth of a popping and crackling fire. In fact, I would be inclined to do just that, if it was not for one thing -- I don't have a fireplace!
I haven't felt extremely good this week. On Monday I had one of the worst panic attacks. I've ever had. I was getting some physical therapy at the time, when all of a sudden I felt a warmth come over me. My entire body became hot and sweaty. My therapist put a different shirt on me to try and cool my body down.
When it seemed as if the room started to swim around in circles, I hurried to get some medicine. I grabbed a pill bottle, and quickly dropped it. My fingers were not working right. My therapist gave me the bottle, but I was unable to open it. She did that and gave me a pill. She asked how long it would take to start working, and I said about 15 minutes. She wasn't too happy about that.
It seemed as if everything was starting to get worse. My hands became numb and I was unable to move my arms. My eyelids felt like there were weights attached to them. After asking me if I would be okay, and being assured that I would, my therapist left. I leaned back in my chair and fell asleep for 2 1/2 hours. Upon waking, I felt mildly refreshed.
I can't understand why medical researchers don't make more of an effort in finding a treatment or cure for panic attacks. It's not as if they don't get paid. But maybe that's the answer. If they found a cure, part of their income would go out the window.
Since that day, the week has been better, but for one exception. I started having some really bad nightmares. But I'll save that story for tomorrow.
