This is a new day, so Im going to try and start the week out right by being more optimistic. Yesterdays negativity did nothing but leave me in a blue funk all day. Dont want to go through that again, especially not two days in a row.
My brother called, which was completely unexpected. Usually we only call one another on holidays and birthdays. I called him about three weeks ago on his birthday, but that ended abruptly when he said he couldnt hear me, and hung up after four minutes. There went brotherly love.
But yesterday was different, and we talked for about an hour. Im still not sure why he called, although it doesnt really matter. The fact that it happened at all is reason enough. But at one point he said he wanted me to know that if it would help, hed be glad to see my therapist with me. Since he hardly ever talks about our family (our mother, really) this offer really stunned me. I thanked him, but said I didnt think it would be good for him to think and talk about the past too much.
We had a brief discussion about emotions. He tried telling me I needed to show my emotions more. Im unable to do that very often. He said he cried every time he had a session with his therapist. I havent cried for ten years or more, partially because I remember our mother telling me that men dont cry.
By the end of the day, I was feeling much better than I had at the beginning. The support I received from my friends at DS helped a lot.

I think ELEANOR left us!
Right on Eleanor and right on Jim! Glad your brother called and you had a nice talk....he may be onto something about showing emotion and real men DO eat quiche and cry (sometimes at the same time).

Hey Eleanor is still alive if her statement rings so loud and true!
I have always loved that statement be E.R.
Im glad that you are having a good day and that you got to talk to your brother. What works for one doesnt necessarily have to work for the other...crying. My mom doesnt cry much at all, but she still feels...
:}
elenor rocks! wish i could put that statement into action though!
