I am feeling hopeful that things will change.
I do not have good communication nor respect from my 20 year old son Jonathan yet. That hurts.
But my brother and parents are trying to help him
My son should be flying out this Thursday to Florida to help out my folks. They are a good source of inspiration as well as money.
He will be gone 10 days and it will be just my wife Karen and I.

I think all relationships take time, some a few months, and others a few years. Don\'t give up on your son. He may just be going through a really rough time. My dad and brother don\'t get along very well[due to past experiences] and he\'s 25, but I know, in time, they will have a better relationship. Maybe you can take this time to reflect on your relationship with your son and maybe talk with him when he gets back. Good luck!
At 20 I didn\'t have the best relationship with my father either. It started at 13. Before then, I was his shadow. I think teens and young adults have to go through something to really make them appreciate good parents. It\'s different for everyone. Now, I have nothing but respect for both my father and especially my mother. You\'re son will get there too. Be patient, show him some respect and understanding as best you can! Good luck!

Hey Jack, (I\'m guessing your name) WWJD? He would respect your son with love. He even respected and forgave the guards who beat him and hung him up to die. I moved out at 21 and at some point in the first 3 years of living on my own, I called up my parents and thanked them for their discipline over the years! I saw how what they had taught me kept me out of trouble. I agree, give him some time to mature and he will probably regain his respect for you.
