Hello all! I have not been on here in the past week. I have been busy spending time with my kiddos. My stepdaughter spends a month with us during the summer and she went back home yesterday. My husband and I always get sad when she goes, but I am so thankful for our time together.
My depression has been worse in the last week. I have had days where I felt so sad that I almost couldn't stand it. At least the chest pains have stopped so that is a relief. I plan on scheduling a doctors appointment for myself once school starts so I don't have to worry about finding someone to watch my daughter.
There are so many changes all the time. My stepdaughter took drivers ed this summer and will be 16 soon. My youngest starts kindergarten next month! Where does the time go?! I'm trying not to be anxious and sad. I'm sure I will do better once my daughter starts school and I get used to the routine.
I started my online therapy last week, and I have another appointment this Friday. My therapist asked me about something I never considered. She asked me if I had ever been assessed for PTSD, which I haven't. My dad is a Vietnam vet and suffers from PTSD, depression, OCD and has serious anger issues. He doesn't receive treatment for any of it because he feels like psychology is junk science. He has suffered a massive heart attack, several strokes and has had some surgery's over the past 7 years making him a bit more challenging to deal with. It's difficult growing up with, and living with someone who has suffered so much trauma and it requires a great deal of patience and understanding. I was verbally and psychologically abused growing up. My dad would get physically rough with my mom, and my brothers, but not with me. It has been many years since I lived at home, but in past years I have noticed that going to visit them triggers severe anxiety. I never though of myself as ever having suffered any type of trauma, especially to the point of having PTSD. It's an interesting perspective.
My therapist gave me an assignment and encouraged me to keep journaling. I was having some computer issues last week so I wrote some stuff in my notebook instead of on here. I also made some goals to work towards and ordered an anxiety workbook which I look forward to starting. One day at a time.
Hope you all are doing well! I hope to post some more pictures soon!

I have been diagnosed with PTSD too because of certain childhood issues. But both my parents\' families struggled with depression and alcoholism. My Dad\'s mother was said to rarely leave her house so I wonder if she suffered from agoraphobia too. Glad you are receiving therapy.
Take care of yourself. Sometimes, these issues cn be a result of things observed early in life.

If he believes in regualar physicians or even Rn\'s then he might want to consider a mood stabilizer. I am glad that you are still seeing a therapist, continue to take care! Sincerely CC
