Hello to Everyone,Hope you all are doing well.  I had an interesting day.  I went for my annual gynocologist check-up. And this time ,I was not just angry, I was in tears.  It's just upsetting.   He's nice enough, but not really alot of compassion.  I even get the feeling that he thinks there's more to the story.  Which just adds to the whole issue that I am misunderstood and not taken seriously.  I asked him if he saw many patients like myself that just really couldn't get relief and he said that I was unusual, most women get help with progesterone cream or birth control pills.  I do believe now that I am an unusual case, and I know that there possibly is another health condition that is not detected.  But I also know here at DS, and friends that are having really awful hormonal issues--anyway, he just made me angry and then sad, then I really just wanted to have a pity-party. Then I thought to myself--you dummy, why do you set yourself up like this.   He is suggesting the birth control pills for me.  I have had conflicting reports on the safety of them for women my age (51).  It makes me afraid.  My naturopath said he doesn't think it's a good option--that the possible side effects-strokes and heart attacks and cancer are worse than I'm dealing with.  But then again, I'm not sure he really understands how difficult it is for me.Confused and bouncing off the walls is kinda where I'm at now.......I mean yesterday I just went into the health store and bought $100.00 worth of products (it's usually$150.00).......and then today I go and get the advise from the medical doctor.......I know that I'm appearing desperate, and I guess I am. I know I need to make some decisions and stick to them.   I'm just starting to really panic--thinking of the possibility of more days bad days like I had.  Then I feel bad, because atleast I've felt better for the last week and a half, so I'm thinking maybe I'm just weak.

I am sorry that you are having such a hard time. That has to be so frustating not to get any relief or help. I would be learry of taking BCP at your age...mine for that matter (40). I hope you find some relief. LYL tonya

Did you ever look into compounded Bioidentical HRT? If you have a compounding pharmacy near you, ask them who the GYNs are that prescribe their services. And FIRE your current GYN!!!

Get a second opinion. If you feel this way, then it\'s valid. These are YOUR feelings, and you are entitled to them. They don\'t make you weak.

Cindy, I\'m so sorry things are so scary for you right now. I have contemplated hormone therapy mainly to get my mood disorder better controlled (with less psychotropic meds). When I researched it and talked to my doc about it, the basic guidelines (from the NIH) is the lowest possible dose for the shortest amount of time. BCPs are preferred in perimenopause because they even out the hormone levels; progesterone cream is used in menopause to raise estrogen levels. My particular combination of meds seems to have gotten symptoms under control but I know that my anxiety disorder is being made worse by peri-menopause, and that\'s probably my biggest \"complaint\" (as the docs say) at this time. I guess what I\'m saying is that there may be more to the picture, but it might not be too obvious where it is. I think about you a lot and keep hoping and praying that you will find relief from your suffering. BTW, I ditto Karenls: fire your gyn and find someone who cares that you are suffering and wants to help you. Love you, Cynthia

I\'m afraid I have to agree with karen regarding the current gynecologist. Cindy, no one knows your body like you do. No one feels what you feel or experiences what you do on a daily basis. If you are NOT happy with the doctors prognosis, or his method of treating you, then by all means, seek out another one, or two..or three. Keep searching til you find the professional who not only listens to you, but treats you as you would like to be treated.
They work for you, not the other way around. You are by no means weak. You\'re searching for answers and you deserve to get them.
We\'re all here for you hun.

Definitely get a second or third opinion. Keep going until you find a compassionate doc that listens and will work WITH you!!! You shouldn\'t have to feel this way and there must be something that will help you. You aren\'t weak, you are having health problems. Sending many many loving hugs your way.

Fear is a very serious effect we put on ourselves. I think you need to get a second opinion and i agree with the doctor that said not to take the pill. I dont think that is a great idea myself. I have so many health issues and I wouldnt even do that. Hang in there and hold your head high!
