My poor next door neighbor just passed away early this morning in his sleep. He was a vietnam vet and has been bed written for the last 15 years. Sena, his wife, is still holding him till the coroner comes to pick him up. She is grieving. Sonnie and I went over there to say our good byes to him and to pay our respects to a fellow veteran. We will go down to the store to get some flowers for her and some food as her family have been coming in and out, and will continue to do so for the rest of the day. Well at least he went peacefully and will now be looking down on her. He is in a better place now and will now be her angel.  As for me, i'm not really in a lot of pain today, thank God! But i am feeling a bit itchy.  We have been dealing with VOG (volcanic fog) for the last 2 days here. It's been blowing in from the big island and you can smell the sulfur. YUCK! The air is thick and you can't see too far through it. It blocked out some of the sun today. I hope it goes away soon couse it makes the air feel really gross!

I\'m so sorry to hear about your friens, but I can\'t imagine being confined to a bed for 15 years either. His poor wife must have really had her hands full. He is in a better place. I know she will miss him. You are a good neighbor and are doing all of the right things. I lost one of my best girlfriends this year, and she was only 47. She looked very old by the time she died and her lungs were shot. I\'m still not over it, but I know she is finally out of pain and is also in a better place, and that helps me a lot.
I\'m so glad your shingles are almost over. I didn\'t know this, but itching is a form of pain, but it\'s usually the last thing we get before we heal.
Have you heard from Matt?

Your compassion for your neighbors touches my heart. I have known a few Vietnam vets who died very lonely deaths, forgotten by their countrymen. I am glad your friend was home with his wife when he passed. It is so sad for her and \'m sure your kindness means the world to her.
I am glad you are feeling better...lord knows you needed a break!
And I hope the volcanic fog blows away soon so you can get back to the beach, wash your troubles away.

Sorry to hear about your neighbor. It\'s great that she has a friend like you. Hoping the volcanic fog blows over soon and you can enjoy some clean air and that things get better for you soon.
