My Story
My daughter, Jenny, died 3 months ago from a drug overdose. She had just turned 22 years old. She had been battling mental health and addiction issues for 8 years. She was the fourth of my five children, of which two others are currently in recovery. In the past ten years, I have divorced an emotionally and psychically abusive alcoholic, restarted my life from the ground up and supported my kids through their journeys. My daughter's and my family's story is probably not unlike many. She was a beautiful person. So loving, smart, funny, loud and full of life. i didn't see her everyday, but kept in touch with her and kept track of her and her well being. When she died in April I hadn't seen her since September. I missed her. I miss her now because i know i can't talk or text or facetime. But I know where she is and I know she is safe and her struggles are behind her. She has found peace and that was always my prayer for her.

I so appreciate your heartfelt words. How comforting knowing our children are suffering no more with their addiction & mental health issues. I am looking very forward to seeing my sons in the future with no more sickness, sorrow or pain.
Until then we can come here for much needed support. Hugs of understanding new friend.....Vicki. ( Jeremy & Chad\'s mom )
We lost our son to an accidental overdose almost 6 years ago. The moms here are wonderful and understanding and have guided me most every step of the way. I hope you find the same comfort on your journey as it is not easy to travel alone. Sending prayers and love... Leda (MomofJosh)
My heart is with you as I travel a similar path. On the 13th it will be seven years that our Douglas shed his earth suit. Addiction is a cruel and insidious disease and has robbed many of us of our most precious loved ones.
I am grateful that you found FMO as it has been a lifeline for me to have others who speak the language of grief, loss and one day finding hope in the midst.
I hope you are feeling warmly welcomed and I know the courage that it takes to write one\'s first journal.
Hand in hand and Heart to heart,
XO Joanie
I am sorry for your loss. I hate addiction...it hurts so many in its ugly path. No one ever starts out thinking they will become addicted...but so many end up there. My heart hurts with you and for you...love and hugs to you...Karen
