I saw a dead guy over the weekend. It is not an image that I have been able to put out of my mind nor will I be able to for some time. He was a motorcyclist killed in an accident. I am glad that I didn't see the accident happen because that would have made it even more traumatic. I was driving westbound with my husband and son, who was thankfully asleep in the back, to go shopping. We passed by the scene maybe 5-10 minutes after the accident happened... He was travelling eastbound on his motorcycle and crashed into the center divide then was thrown over the divide where he was hit by 2 vehicles, each travelling about 65 miles per hour. He lost both his shoes and his helmet in the impact. Seeing him lying on the road and no one trying to attend to him gave me the feeling that he had died. Plus, your odds of survival from being hit by 2 cars going 65 are not very great. I felt nauseous for a while after that. I have felt very sad the whole weekend too because of it. It certainly put things into perspective. we are not guaranteed the next moment, so make all you can out of what you have. I also have to give props to law enforcement, emergency and medical personnel who deal with these things daily. It takes a lot to deal with these things. I don't know if I could do it. I thought I would feel better about getting that out, but I still feel horrible. :(
