Bah! I had almost finished writing this entry when I clicked on a link someone had sent me in an email and lost the whole darn thing! This just does not seem to be my day. It's raining outside, and I forgot my umbrella. I forgot to pick up my clothes from the cleaners yesterday, so I had to scramble for something warm to wear today since we're still having sucky cool weather. I'm just grumpy today.
I just can't seem to get motivated to get on top of the mountains of work I have to do. I guess I'll get to it and start plugging away. I'm just afraid that I am going to drop the ball on something important.
A few weeks ago, I wrote that my dad was giving me grief about problems between himself and his wife, insinuating that I was the cause of these problems. And I don't even live in the same state! Grrr... Well, he said that I wasn't the cause of ALL thier problems - there were other things going on too. Gee, thanks Dad. He married this lady after I had already moved away, so I have never spent more than a few hours at one time with either her or her children. I barely know her, and that's okay with me. As long has he's happy, fine. Anyway, she's mad at me because she feels that I don't include her and her 2 boys the same way that I talk to my dad and 2 half-sisters (who I basically helped raise, until they were 4 and 6 years old). I probably don't, but it's not intentional. She sent me an email about 2 weeks ago saying that we should just agree to disagree on things. (I didn't even know we had a disagreement). She said that her kids were every bit as wonderful as my father, my husband and my son. Well, sure - but they are her kids and I don't know them like I know my son, husband and father. I am really not thinking that my father is all that wonderful right now, truth be told. So anyway, I called my dad on Sunday with the intention of making peace with his wife. I talked to my dad for a bit then asked to speak to her. She was very curt with me on the phone, but not rude. I apologized to her for the way that I made her feel and told her that it was never my intent. To this she said nothing! She just changed the subject and abruptly ended the conversation with me. That was my only attempt at making peace. I am not going to stress myself out over this and keep kissing her ass to make her like me again. Her approval just is not that important to me. I've been there, done that, got the T-shirt. With all this going on, I never get to speak to my sisters when they are visiting with my dad. I don't really know why. Maybe it's that I don't ask to speak to her kids? I don't know for sure. So my stepmother called me last night (my dad's ex-wife) and I got to speak to them that way. I don't have time to type any more now. I really must do some work.
