Well, now I made it through my first weekend smoke free. Again, I have to say,
I'm pretty tickled
! It was hard to be around others who smoke, but it was
good to be around my friends who have quit. One friend had been taking Chantix
but has not reached her quit date yet, and she chose not to smoke around us.
I also noticed when I went for a long walk yesterday, I did not get nearly as winded
or tired as I have in the past. And riding a long way in the car with a non-smoker did
not bother me as much as I thought it would. I did have some "automatic thoughts" and
found myself patting my pockets for my non-existent cig.s a few times, but I chalk that up
to a 35+ year habit. Basically, it was good to breathe and I'm so glad to still be FREE!

wow! oh Carrie I am indeed excited for you. I believe you have the proper mindset to truly make smoking history! You are just beginning to discover the good stuff that happens and it gets a whole lot better. I did not use Chantix so I\'m not qualified to respond to that but I have seen huge success rates with Chantix quitters who were serious about putting their smoking days behind them. Keep up the incredible job!!!
If you ever have a day when you are being overcome, contact me or shell7, we\'re here for ya! Great work. Only wish I could give up my blues about breakup, not as easy to give up.
Fantastic I just now read this and you are doing great, how nice of your friend to not smoke, though I imagine she has her quit date set if on chantix, I\'m fortunate that most of my friends have quit as well, you\'ll stop feeling those pockets for a smoke in time believe me, meanwhile keep your power and strength, you are doing great and should be so proud of yourself! Reward yourself with something one of these days soon. I bought myself a $10- necklace at our outdooor market as one of my first gifts to me, was it gosh 30 days or 10? Not sure but to this day when I wear it and if someone should compliment it I know what it means and it means alot. Keep it up girl you\'re doing great!
It does help when others around you quit too. More and more people are quitting everyday so you are in the majority now...not the shrinking minority.
Walking is great! It helps with the smoking and helps curb weight gain.
Now it is just a matter of retraining yourself a new habit to replace the 35 year one!
Keep up the quit!
