Saw the Blue Angels earlier in Baltimore Inner Harbor. Good times. If anyone has the chance to see them, take it. You won't regret it one bit. They flew so close together and near buildings. Being a pilot for them takes nerves of steel. Don't doubt yourself as a Blue Angel or else the show will go wrong. I really enjoyed the show. I would love to see them again.

Yes, the Blue Angel\'s fly Mcdonald Douglas F-18 hornet\'s, they have a top speed of Mach 1.8 and they been flying them since 1986. The jet is primarily used for fighter escort missions, and was introduced in 1983.
While the F-22 Raptor is a far superior aircraft and is much faster, it costs far too much to produce, and is just not economical. The F-15 Eagle, the F-16 Joint Strike Fighter, and the F-18 Hornet, are still well used in the air force and Navy.
Anyways, the only difference between the F-18 hornet that the Blue Angels fly, and what the military fleet uses, is that the Blue Angel\'s F-18\'s fly slower by design. Its interesting to note that 16 military officers volunteer to fly for the Blue Angels.
