Well. . .not a good appointment. First of all, I had to wait 2 hrs to even get into the examining room, then waited 1 hr in there, freezing to death! She brings in 4 medical students! She didn't even want to talk about my symptoms, didn't even acknowledge me showing her my journal (tried to show her 3 times, and she just ignored me.) Asked if I used drugs, drank or smoked. . .yes, I smoke, then she says emphysema can have the same symptoms as MS and I should look into that! Checked my reflexes, looked in my eyes, said I might have chronic fatigue syndrome. . . ya think!!!! That was the smartest thing she said! Then ordered a bunch of blood work which I just had 2 months ago and everything came back either negative or normal! 15-20 min in there. So I go to the lab, they tell me I have to go to registration, which is what I did when I first got there, that only took about 30 minutes! So, started to go BACK to registration and ended up walking out the door to come home. . .4 hours later! I am so frustrated right now, I feel so belittled! I guess what I was looking for was a professional to tell me, "okay, yes, these are symptoms, let's get started to see what is going on with you." She asked me if I thought I needed another MRI??!! Am I the doctor??? By the way. . .I said yes, and this time with contrast! I don't know what to do. I'm going to talk to my regular doc this week, and see what other options I have, I may contact the MS society and see if they can help, not sure since I don't have a dx. So. . . that was my wonderful visit with a neurologist after waiting 5 months to even get in to see. I know, I know. . .don't let this keep me from being aggressive in my health management, blah, blah, blah. . .after this, I don't even want to deal with it again!

Hi, that was a crummy doctor. Very uncaring. Were there any other doctors in that office. The office I go to has 4. I already kicked one to the curb. you have a journal tell me all your symptoms. contact the MS Society you may get someone who can reach out to you and advise another doctor in the area. It stinks big time. Answers are better then wondering. At least once someone confirms you can work on what you prefer for a plan of action. Don\'t get discouraged. If you want I will call the MS Society here in Vegas and see if my friend can help.. Want me to? Love you sister. Good Night!

add my vote - I was diagnosed by the third neuro I visited and I\'m getting ready to replace him because he went on vacation and I couldn\'t get ahold of the doc covering him when I was in the middle of a flare. Don\'t stop being your own advocate. Hang in!

I was encouraged by your committment to find a good neuro. I really like mine, but he is leaving the paractice (and the state for that matter) and have been assigned to his replacement. I wonder if I\'ll feel comfortable with him.

Hi Sherie, Hang in there!! I remember when I landed in the hospital for 2 wks.with these symptoms of ms that they didnt think it was that, even though I had 2 sisters that are nurses and was reading up on all my symptoms. I saw 2 neuros here and then went to a another hospital not from around here. I saw 2 neuros and the 2nd one diagnosed me with this disease. I was going crazy not knowing either. It took 6 months but finally I found out.Even though you hate to finally here what you have its the knowing that at least you can try to deal with. So hang in there!! My prayers are with you because it is a stressful time. You will get your answers!! Be Strong!! Love Ya. Mary

What an awful experience. So insensitive.A deaf dr w/a giant ego.There\'s better out there.Don\'t be discouraged.I find it\'s best to knock about \'till I find a dr who listens-and who I will listen to.You are the best judge of how you feel & it\'s important not to let a dr railroad you.Be strong & keep the faith!

My husband was \"lucky\" in that he was diagnosed with MS right after his first MRI. The \'scars\' were in the middle of the brain, very obvious.
Get Another Doctor!

Sorry it didn\'t go as well as you hoped it would. I had an experience somewhat like you. I was getting into a top MS specialist and I was so excited as I had seen him at a seminar before and was impressed. Needless to say I was ranting when I got out of there and was not imprssed at all!!! He is very good at what he does as far as teaching and research but no good bedside manner. I couldn\'t talk either he was there to \"teach\" not care what I had to say so I know how you felt I was very upset!! Hope you find another good one , don\'t give up they are out there , I love mine now!! Best wishes and you take care! Hugs, Michelle

These kinds of experiences are assinine and all too common, I think, for people with chronic illness. It\'s bad enough to be suffering with the physcial problems. Then the medical system adds more suffering on top of that. People can be so rude and disrespectful! I think I would have ended the \"exam\" and walked out then. You might want to consider writing a letter to her and the medical director. It may not do any good, but at least you will have exercised your voice. I hope you eventually find the care you need.
