Sunday night.....going through papers in my home office, tossing, organizing....yesterday was the hardest day for urges I've had since I quit gambling.....probably because it was a double trigger.....a Saturday + a Holiday weekend.  When I was gambling, I spent just about every Holiday in a freaking casino......how sad is that!  The Bf and I both wanted it that way!  As the casinos were always crowded on Holidays, I guess we weren't the only ones......Happily, reason prevailed, and I remained GF.  Came home and watched "Forrest Gump"  my favorite movie of all time......yes, I admit it.  I laugh and cry repeatedly throughout every time I watch it....Today, no urges at all....I guess that is just the way it goes!   Today I am at 81 days GF, heading toward the 90 day mark....will bells and whistles go off???  Do I win a prize???  If we all lived nearby, I'ld throw a party.....Hope everyone had a great Easter....Love to everyone, Dianne

I know what you mean about the holidays. They were a hard time for me too. I somehow got locked into the thought that the fuller the casinos were the more buzzy it was for me. - I guess it was part of the thrill. The after effects can be so sad. YOu are a far cry from that place now - today you are GF and should be so proud at 81 days! Well done my friend! - hugs to you Suzi xx

Hi Dianne,
You fought the monster! That\'s excellent! Our Easter was a good one, chocolate bunnies for everyone! I even colored eggs, well, I always do. My grand baby is too young to care about finding them, yet. It was just fun to do. And no candy for me... I quit junk food about 2 years ago. I was a sugar addict.... lol laughing out loud, but it\'s the truth! Not eating all that crap has really done me nothing but good. It frightens me to think of all the work I need to do on myself. I\'m no longer drinking, not that I drank so much, I just drank for the wrong reasons. I remember trying to get drunk after a gambling binge in the hopes I\'d confess to my boyfriend, how sick is that! The confession was done sober. Wow, where am I going with this? Oh yeah, recovery. I know you understand. We understand each other because we are both compulsive gamblers :) Thanks for being there...Love, Robin

Dianne, 81 days is sooo great. You are definitely an inspiration to me on this site. I too struggle with long weekends because they were always my fun \"get away\" time. I don\'t know if bells and whistles will go off on the 90th day, but I do know the 91st day will follow and so forth. Keep it up!

Hi Dianne!
First, congrats on your 82 days GF!!! Great job!!! I remember when I hit my \"100 days GF\", I was on top of the world, it was such a great feeling! I celebrated it by going out to dinner with my hubby...so do something special for yourself, okay? You deserve it!
Hugs,
Liz

Hi D. yes 90 days will be a great accomplishment, but remember focusing on each day and being in the moment is so important. I think we all get caught up in numbers game sometimes and that can also be dangerous.

It is not only about reaching 7,90,or 100 days etc.
what may be more important is what have we done in that time to create a lasting change in us.

My first time in G.A. I was so focused on hitting those milestones and getting those rewards I did not see the big picture. I fell of before my 6 month mark and was truly devastated.

I was letting time pass by but was not working on myself during that time. I was still the same person but I was not gambling so it was much easier to go back.

Now I focus much less on counting the days, but more on what have I done and what am I doing to facilitate a change in me. This time along I have also taken 6 individual counselling sessions to get more deeper into why gambling was able to take over my life.

Just some words from my experience and I hope they can help. We have all taken different roads to get here, nobody is an expert but hopefully we can learn from each other and most of all give support
