Last night, I had one of those horrible headaches that wouldn't go away no matter what, and Jonathan kept screeching in that high-pitched-make-your-ear-drums-sting way that he does. He kept jumping all over me until my stomach got upset because the pain was so bad. It lasted for hours and I coudn't sleep because of it. But it's gone this morning, after a few hours of sleep. Today is turning out to be a better day already, and I have to put my little face on 'excellent' because of all that's happened this morning already. I've only been up for about 2 hours, and Jonathan has made this day very wonderful! He got himself dressed without any help from me, which is a step forward for him. Then, he did something I have been waiting for for about 3 years! He said, "Jonny's gotta do it!" and he meant zipping up his coat without any help at all!!! And, he did it too!!! Usually, I have to start it for him, and he zips it the rest of the way. Not this time though! He did it all by himself. Then, he said it again, about 5 seconds later when it was time to put his bookbag on. He has trouble with it usually, but not today!!! He got it on, and only struggled for a second. He was sitting at the dining room window, waiting for his bus, and he got thirsty. He didn't want my help at all. "Jonny's gotta do it!" he said again. He got his cup, went to the fridge and got the juice, and he poured it all on his own!!! He didn't spill a drop!!! Yesterday, for the very first time, he took his magnadoodle and made the numbers 4, 7, and 11- on purpose!!! And, they actually LOOKED like what he said they were!!! Then, he made the letters L, N, Z, T, and D. They also looked like they should!!! Then, he drew a balloon, and it definitely looked like a balloon! He drew a circle, and then a line coming from it to make it a balloon!!!These are big steps forward for him, and I couldn't be more proud!!! He even wants to help me cook now. He's always saying, "Wanna look?" when I'm in the kitchen. He helped me make cupcakes the other day by pouring in the ingredients and stirring the batter. Then he helped put the cups in the tray, and when they came out of the oven, he helped to put the frosting on them. He really loved adding the sprinkles! So, my little guy is making progress, and that has made me so happy!!! I think he has passed the 24 month mental age now. I'll have to talk to his doctor about that next time.
