Our children are supposed to be safe when we send them to school. We, as parents, put trust in the schools that they will protect our children.There was a shooting at a Cleveland Public School this afternoon. Jonathan does not attend that school, but he does attend a school nearby in the Cleveland Public School District. He didn't take the bus this morning, I dropped him off. As I was pulling out of the school parking lot, 2 kids were physically fighting right in front of the school's front doors. I have had it with this crap. Cleveland has THE WORST schools in the state (a proven fact). On Monday, we found out that Cleveland's schoolbuses are the worst in the country, with more safety violations than ANY OTHER school district in the COUNTRY. Looks like we're moving from this aweful place. I can't wait! This city is the WORST place to live. A warning to everyone out there- NEVER MOVE TO CLEVELAND, OHIO!!! I am terrified to send my child to school. I know this can happen anywhere, but the violence is just terrible here in these schools. I went to a Cleveland Public Highschool for 2 years, and there were fights constantly- at least 2 a day.Time to go pick Rob up from work...

It IS scary now-a-days. I look at what my boys are dealing with compared to what I had in high school and it terrifies me. The fact that they now have intruder drills along with tornado and earthquake drills just chills me.
It is scary here in Ca too. My town was where pregnant Lacy Peterson lived, and Chandra Levy the whitehouse whatever lived here (her parents still do) plus the Yosemite murders were connected with our town. Its horrible to be known for such bad things. I am sorry you must move just to be safe.

We\'re actually considering just moving out of the city, to a small town just outside of Cuyahoga County (where we live now), named Columbia Station. We\'ll see though. There\'s alot to talk about first. We have been thinking about moving for some time now, and we were hoping to wait until June, when school is out. Rob and I are both uneasy about sending him back to school one Monday. They closed all Cleveland public schools tomorrow, and there are no classes on Friday because of some teacher thing going on. We have alot to figure out and consider here, and it\'s not easy because we want to make sure that we make the ABSOLUTE best decision for our son.

This is one of the top 10 reasons why I\'ve decided to home school my kids (if I ever have kids! THANKS PCOS! /sarcasm lol). Yeah, school violence is about number 3 on that top 10 list too. It falls right after 1. Kentucky schools suck so my kids would get a much better education, and 2. I don\'t want my kids vaccinated and that\'s a legal requirement for public education here. So yeah, 3. would be I want to keep my kids safe because public school are outrageously dangerous anymore.
I\'m really sorry this happened in your town! It happened in Kentucky several years ago... not my town, but I mean GOD, if it can happen in Paducah Kentucky it can happen anywhere. Its so sad. :(
