My weekend was really nice! The best I have had in a long time! My mom and dad had my brother, Jonathan, my husband, and me come over on Saturday evening. I picked a bunch of flowers from my yard and put them in a vase for her. I took them over to her, and she loved them! (the first pic on my page is of the flowers I picked.) My mom went to this really nice bakery and bought me a strawberry cassata cake for my birthday! It was SOOOO delicious! It's my favorite kind of cake! It wasn't cheap, and I was a little upset that she spent so much money on a cake, but then I tasted it and I forgave her! LOL! She asked me on Friday night what I wanted for dinner on Saturday, and I didn't want to pick something that not everyone is going to like. So, I decided that we should do Boboli pizzas, and just have the toppings setting out on the table so we could each make our own the way that we wanted them. We got the 'personal' size Boboli pizza bread, and we all laughed and talked as we made our pizzas. Let me tell you, my brother PILES those toppings on there! HOLY MOSES HE CAN EAT!! Then he went back and made ANOTHER one! Those Marines, I tell ya! We had cake after they all sang a different version of the 'Happy Birthday' song. My mom said for my name "Melinda-Boo-Hooby-Boo", Jonathan said "Mommy", Rob said "Melinda Sue" (his name for me), my brother said something, but it was heard to hear, and my dad said "Baby Girl". I tried to blow out my candles, but I was laughing so hard at what my mom had said that it took a few tries LOL! I got a new standing paper towel holder because my other one was broken, and a new pasta spoon since my old one was broken too. I also got a foil hat. OK, so you guys are probably wondering what the foil hat was for. And, as embarrassing as this is for me, I will tell you. My dad and I have always joked around with each other, I mean since I was like 2 years old. We try to trick each other into believing something strange, and see how long we can keep it up. So, back in July, I was having terrible sinus headaches, and they seemed to get REALLY bad when I would be outside in the hot sun for even just a few mintues. I was talking to my dad about it on the phone, and I told him how I needed to get out into my garden and do some yard work. So, my goofy dad decided to play that game with me. He told me that if I take foil, more specifically, non-stick foil, and make it into a hat, shiny-side-up, that it will make it so that the sun would stay off of my head, and the shiny-side would deflect the sun's rays. I didn't go for it at first, but he sounded so darn serious!!! I pulled out my foil, the whole time he sounds so serious on the phone. I just kept thinking that he was right. Until my mom walked in the room and heard what he was saying. She started laughing SOOO loud, and that's when it occured to me. So my dad finally just started laughing hysterically at me. He got me good that time!!! And, when I opened up my birthday presents, sure enough, there was a foil hat. I still have it! I wore it for the rest of the night at my parents house, and they had so much fun laughing at me! To make matters worse, Jonathan had found a huge piece that bubble wrap with the big bubbles on it. He left it on the kitchen floor, and I walked in there to put a cup in the sink, but I didn't turn the light on. I stepped on it and it startled me, so I screamed really loud. Everyone laughed about that one- and because I was wearing my new hat, they thought it was even funnier! Yesterday was a nice, relaxing day. I made homemade pancakes, and cooked up some bacon and sausage. We had a nice breakfast, just the 3 of us. Jonathan loves bacon, and I made him 'baby' pancakes, which are just tiny pancakes. I put whipped cream and sprinkles on them, and he loved it! It's hard to get this kid to eat much of anything, but if you add some sprinkles, it disapears before you even have a chance to set the plate in front of him! Rob fixed my car for me, and we went out to Denny's for dinner. It's one of Jonathan's favorite places to eat, even though Rob and I don't really care too much for the place. I hope everyone else had a wonderful weekend too! But, if you didn't, no worries! There's always next weekend!
