Kids often say things that don't make sense. They say things innocently and truthfully. And sometimes, they say things that make more sense than anything coming out of an adults mouth. This morning, Jonathan and I were sitting at the kitchen table, eating our cereal, and looking out the window. It's raining today, it has been since late last night. He was talking his usual babble of repeating words and sentences that he's heard us say to him. Then he said, "The rain will go too far away. It won't be forever. The rain has to go away." What he said is not what he meant. What may seem like a bunch of jumbled words to everyone else makes sense to us. My parents, and Rob and I know darn well what he means. He was telling me, in non-autistic adult words, "The rain will go away soon, because it always does stop raining." He's right. It can't rain forever. He got me thinking. It CAN'T rain forever! We sometimes need the rain so that the flowers can bloom and bring happiness to our days! The same goes for all of us who are dealing with our own struggles in life. Some of us are going through very heartbreaking divorces. Some of us are having panic attacks. Some of us are overcoming addictions. Some of us have lost a loved one and are grieving. Some of us has inner pains and we want to cut ourselves. Some of us just need to heal, for whatever reason that may be. BUT- as Jonathan, an autistic four-year-old boy, pointed out- IT CAN'T RAIN FOREVER! IT HAS TO STOP SOMETIME! And, eventually it will! We will all smile someday. Some sooner than others, but it will happen! The sun will come out, the flowers will be bright and colorful, and the sky will be blue! It's just hard to see it right now because of the rain. And, when it passes, it will be worth it! But don't forget- since it has rained so much, you're gonna have to cut the grass!! LOL

Love your post. I try to always think of the future and how happy I will be when my current troubles have passed. It\'s such a help. When my grandmother passed away, this really helped a lot, because I knew that I would not always feel that sad. Thanks for sharing. Children are amazing.
