And so, it begins...I was sitting, eating my lunch, when the phone rang.  It was my mom.  She needed to know if I was busy today, tomorrow, Monday, and Tuesday.  I have no life, so nope- no plans.  Of course, it wouldn't matter if I had a 10 million dollar trip to the moon planned with non-refundable tickets- I would drop it all in a heartbeat for my parents if they needed me.  Turns out, they are just going to find somewhere else to live, and she wants me to go 'house shopping' with her, since my dad cannot walk due to his foot problems.  They are kinda happy about this.  They've been wanting to move for years, but the house they live in could not be sold without ALOT of repairs.  If you notice in some of my pictures, my parents did not have walls in part of their house.  The house was built back in 1904 by my great-grandfather, Austin Ayers.  My parents began to remodel a few years ago, and the contractor stiffed them after ripping out the walls.  Then, they found out that they had to bring the house up to code, and because all of the wiring was so old and needed updating, they couldn't afford to do it all at once.  There are so many problems with that house, and it's falling down around them.  Also, because of my dad's health problems from the diabetes, they just couldn't fix the house up and do all that needed to be done to sell it.  So, they are actually kind of happy to be leaving it.On the other hand, they didn't want to lose 20 years of equity they had in it.  They bought the house from my grandparents after they inherrited it from my great-grandparents.  So, they have just lost ALOT of money.  That's the bad part in all of this.  Well, and the fact that their credit is now ruined. So, now they are trying to find a rental, or maybe a rent-to-own.  My mom and I found some houses today, but nothing that really seemed promising.  They have a 95-pound, 12-year-old German Sheppard, and a cat.  The dog is really sensitive, and she doesn't adjust well to change, or to being alone.  The cat is actually that dogs pet.  They bought the cat for the dog when my cat died.  She stopped eating, wouldn't get up to go outside, and just sat in the corner for over a week.  They had to drag her outside.  She picked at ehr food- just a few bites a day.  Finally, they bought her a kitten to cheer her up, and it worked!  So, they cannot get rid of the cat, and the dog has been part of the family since we brought her home at 12 weeks old.  She was barely weaned.  So, trying to find a house, with a fenced-in yard, that's a rental, and the landlord permits large dogs- that's nearly impossible!  But, we will keep looking. My parents will be OK.  Soon, the dust will settle and they will be able to relax.  My brother and I will be helping them move their stuff since my dad cannot lift anything, let alone walk.  They have to be out by September 20, and my birthday is September 19.  My mom's all worried about that.  I don't mind!  I don't need a party- I just need to know that they will be OK!!  That's the best birthday present that anyone can give me this year.  I don't want anything else.  Well- OK, I'll take $100,000 so that they can pay what the state says they owe (even though they don't owe them anything!!!).  If anyone out there has $100,000 that I can have for my birthday, I sure could use it!!!Well, that's pretty much my whole day.  My bills didn't get paid because Rob couldn't tear himself away from the computer to pay the bills while I was gone.  I already know he looked at porn while I was gone.  He didn't even know where Jonathan was the whole time.  Figures, huh?  Oh well- my parents are looking for a place with 3 bedrooms so that Jonathan and I can move along with them.

I\'m sorry that your family is losing a home that has been there for generations --- so sad, but maybe a new place is best for all of you --- a fresh start? You sound positive and that makes me happy -- like you are sure of yourself. I think things are going to get much better for you soon. Living with parents who love you (and need you) will be so much nicer than living with somebody who can\'t control himself.

Glad your mom is so upbeat about the move. Maybe, once all of this is done, they will be able to be truly happy.

Melinda, house searching can be lots of fun, and i hope you all enjoy the search. :)

it\'s unfortunate, that your parents are losing their home, it\'s not fair, and it\'s just, not right! they deserve a nice home, they worked hard all their life, and it\'s sad, that people can just uproot families and their way of life, and make them start over. i know you will be there for your parents, helping them, and getting them situated in their new place. You are their angel, and i know everything will be fine. :)
