I added some new pics of my baby. (I know he's not REALLY a baby anymore, but he's still my baby, and always will be!)
Jonathan is "wired differently". He will be 4 years old on March 11th, and he still is not potty trained. He just started talking about 4 months ago. He is being tested for autism in 3 weeks. When he is around people other than family that he's seen since he was born, he acts as if they are not there. Not in a shy way, though. It's as if they don't exist in his world. He will not look at people (unless, as I said earlier, you are family). He is a natural problem solver, and will sit for hours (I mean hours- honestly) until he figures out how to fix something or how to make it work. He also has an obsession with cars and fans. He stares at fans and takes the wheels off of cars just so he can spin them on the floor. He cannot handle anything out of place. We went to the zoo last summer, and they have signs with the information about the animal near every exhibit. One was tilted a little. This drove him INSANE! He HAD to fix it. If you've ever seen the show "Monk", this is Jonathan. He's not afraid of germs, but nothing can be out of place, and he cannot stand to have a fuzzy on his hands or any other "dirt" on his body. Not even just a little bit. My dad calls him "Little Monk" because it's my dad's favorite show. Speaking of T.V., Jonathan does not watch any television at all. He won't look at it. He likes the radio, and he only wants it on 99.5 WGAR, the local country station here in Cleveland. Anything else and he says, "Want the radio off." He doesn't understand yet how words work. He says,"Did you?" when he does something he was asked to do. If the cat jumps down from the couch, he says, "The kitty cat's got to get on the couch." That's how he tells the cat that he wants him to come back up on the couch to him. Have you ever tried to "train" a cat? I don't mean little box training. I mean teach it to do tricks? My son did. He has a mesh laundry bag that "pops-up" and is only about 18 inches high. He taught the cat to jump in there when he claps his hands. We bought the cat because Jonathan loves animals, and because he cannot interact with other children due to his social developement (sign of autism?). This is Jonathan's only friend, and they spend hours a day running around after each other.

He sounds like a very sweet and intelligent child. We did manage to teach our cats a couple of tricks. One used to jump up and touch the door know when she wanted to to out, and the other would jump from the mantle piece to your shoulder. Keep us up on how he\'s doing!

yes, cats can learn tricks..one of mine retreives a rabbits foot key chain and a bottle cap till you throw it again. I had another that did that too.My cats do all sorts of things with doorknobs and things to speak, they are very smart. But the amazing thing I see with Jonathan is he is only 4 and so smart! Animals connect with special people. They know how to love and protect in their way. So beautiful that Jonathan has a loving relationship with \"kitty\".
