The cut on my hand that I did when I went to the hospital almost 2 weeks ago is finally healing. I have had it bandaged as I blister under the plastic dressings. Now down to an elastoplast strip on it now (bigger than bandaids).
My left leg works sometimes but drags a lot of the time & my right foot is often numb as well. I am using the walker even in the house most of the time now though it is gradually improving & I am able to walk a little bit without it. It has been hard with left hand cramping & right hand hurting from the cut but I have been able to do most things (other than dishes & opening cans & a few other things). My speech is normal most of the time but sometimes I get stuck on words or just cant say them right & the wrong things come out (which is why I am careful when out). My memory is one of the worst parts to deal with as I can't remember things, not only peoples names but what I am doing when or what I have done so I say "thank God for my organiser". That has everything written it & I look at that before I decide on anything.
On Tuesday I had physio then an orthopedics Dr to review my foot splint. He said the one I am using "is a piece of crap" - his words,so he has filled out all the paperwork & I will be on the waiting list to get a proper carbon type foot splint & orthopedic shoes. The wait could be anything from months to a year depending on funding.
I then went to the Dr for scripts, review & redress of hand & to get the paperwork signed which he did.
This week I have finally got the renovations started to make our house more "disabled friendly".
They are starting with the bathroom & the first day already had the bath out & tiles off the wall. Today got the rest off the floor & started laying new base floor. It looks messy but I am surprised at how quickly he is getting it done. I am sure that it will slow down when he is up to plumbing or electrician when he has to wait on other people.
I have been struggling a lot with fatigue & feeling frustrated at not being able to do things & getting tired when I do. David (hubby) was away for a week at a car race in Adelaide (staying with a cousin) & I found that everything became an effort for sure. Didnt realise how much of a difference just the taking dishes out to kitchen & making drinks or pouring them & washing etc. I was very glad when he came home for sure.
Today I went to physio in the morning & then went to get my eyes checked & I dont need new glasses which I was relieved at. Have 2 more appointments for them to check my peripheral vision & another one to take photos of the back of my eyes & dilating them. That one I am not allowed to drive home from so have to ask a friend yet again for a lift. This afternoon I have been falling aleep on the couch so guess I am too tired yet again. Getting fed up with being so tired & falling asleep so often but not much I can do about it other than to sleep. Thats ok when I am not working but I am trying to continue woring 3 days for 5 hours (takes me 1.5hours from home to work & back) so is a longer day. If the trains run right I leave home at 6.45 & get home at 5pm for 5 hours work but at least I still have a job.
Looking forward to the weekend & rest.
Hugs to all,
Sue
