Today
I'm going to try to make a negative a positive. I have to be on call and there is a box that weighs about 20 pounds. When I was at work, I thought I need to pull up to the door and not have to walk out of the building with it. For some reason carrying weight and walking or stairs really is a trigger. Anyway I didn't. Two co-workers were walking out and chatting to me as we left the building. It was humid and hotplus the exertion- could not talk nor would I stop walking. Afraid of being embarassed. Duh! Put box down when I reached the car. One girl was parked beside me and started telling me about the box being there.Told her I would get it in a minute. I ducked down and ran the air conditioner in my face and purse lip breathed. Moral is park at the door next time!!!!!Learned a lesson!

I was just like you for awhile. No you can not been over and pick up heavy items For me making our bed took about a\' hour with two coffee breaks. Now the Bed has been raised up about a foot and makes a big difference..You will learn how to cope not give up.....so proud of you...sick or well you make a difference in your patients lives....
Oh yes...I gave muyself the same learning experience. I think it is a form of denial or possibly independence. Life is easier since I learned to ask for help. It takes time for us to change our basic nature.
Do you have a little cart or something with wheels that you could you to carry heavy things. Trying to breathe and walk at the same time, while carrying something heavy is very difficult! And if they have valet parking, use it! It\'s a Godsend. Hugs, Sue
My fear is that \"they\" will not think that I can work anymore. Part of my job is the physical requirements. All of this has happened wo quickly. I am still figuring it out daily. I just don\'t know how long I will be doing this if I continue to decline so quickly. Husband is between jobs, so it is all on me. Scarey! Luckily the teens are working. We were able to help them get summer jobs. I feel like I should just sit by the fan and all will be well.
