Life Goes On

Well lets see here.
Any of us who live with a condition such as lupus you pretty much have to accept that immune suppressant drugs have to be a huge part of your daily life.  As with any chronic condition opting out for whatever reason you might feel is valid can indeed turn your world upside down.
Thru appointments & talking with my reflexologist she has somehow made me see that immune suppressant drugs for now have to be a part of me.  I do seem to think that I've been a rebel without even realizing it & was determined to walk the road my way, end of story, so there.  I'm finally starting to bow down to them & accept them, for now, note I say for now LOL.  I'm still not at all happy abt it cause the back of my mind always can rehash everything else they can do for you.  But the immune suppressant drugs have to be a companion for now.
Something though, the Cellcept, I'm really not sure if it's totally working.  I still have symptoms that come & go whenever, typical dry mouth, the blotchy rash (but at least it's just on the lower legs), some pain issues so who knows.  I so hate the days when I feel like I'm dragging myself thru the day with lead blocks tied to my feet.  Does anyone else ever hate days like that?  It's been almost 4 wks so it shd have totally kicked in by now but we'll see as time goes on I suppose.
Something totally silly.  At the shelter I work at & in the one big room that is our responsibility there's this one feral female, long black fur, white nose.  She's always been the alpha leader in that room.  Her name in Blossom.  Well every Wed it's always a part of our day that we just pay attn to whose there & is someone seems to be missing.  Well this a.m. I couldn't see or find Blossom so we started looking around & finally found her curled up in the lower part of a condo unit.  This is totally not her at all so I bent down to check on her.  I could tell she was not well,  she was shaky, her head is bent more to one side, eyes dull.  I knew she was not well so I called my partner over & she agreed.  She didn't want any water or treats which she adores.  So I went & reported it to our supervisor who put a message in to the shelter senior staff to say that something was up & she needs a vet.  In the meantime we took the canned food in & put the plates & bowls around.  I guess she knew what was occuring & went to crawl out of the condo & she couldn't walk.  She couldn't keep her balance.  Well that put me & my partner in full panic mode.  Needless to say when we left at 11:30 we dropped her off at the vet that handles our cats.
One thing abt Blossom, no one there likes to go near her & they don't trust her & they really just pretty much let her be.  Well for some reason Blossom has bonded with me, Deanna my partner & even my hubby.  I can't figure it out but for some reason I guess there must be something abt us that she likes or something.  I really can't figure out why everyone has this aversion to her.
I feel like a mother with, I don't know, has separation anxiety or whatever.  No report on Blossom yet.  I phoned to check in but nothing yet.  Our poor misunderstand Blossom.
All is pretty well with hubby most of the time.  We're getting into warmer sometimes humid weather so he has to take his time when outside or out & about but stop he refuses.  He still is going swimming twice a week & his dr's do admire the way he's keeping his body moving so I guess this is a good bit to report on.
I'm sure there was something else I wanted to include here but it escapes me for now so I think I'll quite while I'm ahead & sign off for now.
To all my dearest friends who take time to stop here I so always appreciate hearing your wonderful thoughts on, well, my thoughts I guess.

I so love your wonderful thoughts! and I sure enjoy reading your journal! I am sorry that you have to deal with the side effects of immune suppressing drugs. Is Prednisone one of them? I always hate it when the doctors insist I take that. and I was happy to hear that you noticed sweet Blossom wasn\'t feeling well and also she was having trouble with her balance. Have you heard what the Vets say about her condition now that they\'ve had a chance to take a look at her. How old is she? I can tell that she has a special place in your heart. Keep me posted on how she\'s doing, okay?
Glad your hubby is doing good.
Thanks always for your comments! Take care! See you next time!

So, you and I, we are like the lead foot twins. I am totally dragging also. I\'m sorry that the meds don\'t seem to be working. I know how hard it is to change or adjust meds. You never know when to throw in the towel and try another one, worried that you\'ll go through a whole new set of problems. I will pray for you about that.

I know how you feel about trying to accept the meds when you don\'t want to. We\'ve talked about this before. It\'s hard. One thing that clinched me about it was that one doc told me (the ones prior had not) that if the antibodies/inflammation in my body is too high for too long, it can damage joints or organs or ... so, that scared me. I had thought if I could handle the pain, it was Ok to let the inflammation go, but after that I figured I had to be more sensible. Sigh. I hope you feel better soon.

I\'m sorry about blossom. I\'m sure she is totally misunderstood. It\'s good that she has you at least. Hopefully she\'s back to her old self soon. poor kitty.
I\'m sending you some giant hugs my friend. It is good to have an update on things.

Poor Blossom. As you probably know I have a crazy kitty. She hates everyone but me and my husband. I think she is just scared and she presents as super crazy, hissing and growling at anyone, even my 9 year old grandson who basically lives here. Weird, what we do to protect ourselves.
Sorry about the new meds, it\'s so frustrating.
