I've received a lot of inquiries fr folks interested in my deep breathing meditation exercise I do so I'm posting it here for anyone that wishes to try it. Deep breathing is beyond just a big inhale & exhale it is a way of improving blood flow and oxygen throughout the body. The meditating can be an excellent way to sort of cleanse the mind and refresh it. However, one shd not be discouraged at the beginning. Some people can get into this sort of exercise very fast & others it takes a while to get and/or allow your body to go, so to speak.Music, the proper music is very very important but it's also to everyone's own taste. My sister likes oceans & loons. I use CD's such as: Feng Shui(music for balanced living), A Sense Of Renewal, Shamiac Dream, Zen Garden, & another one which is strictly nature related.Lying totally totally comfortable is also very important to aid muscle relaxation.Darken the lighting in the room, ensure privacy. I love having an Aromatherapy burner going but scent sensitive people of course will not include this.Start the music.Place arms by your side.Start a deep inhale but not into the lungs, into the belly. A deep inhale you'll feel your belly area expand (think of a baby naturally breathing).Hold the breath even for a few seconds.Exhale feeling the belly collapse back down. With each breath(as above) focus always on relaxing, gradually feeling yourself sinking into the carpet, bed, etc.You will feel soft, almost rubbery, becoming one with the surface you'e lying on.Continue belly breathing. Feel blood circulating & energy flowing.Picture a fav place, mine is a rain forest, everything is emerald green, sparkling with little diamonds of moisture. The air is as fresh as new roses, the smells of lush greenery and there's soft dew on everything. A spring is gurgling nearby, I float along with it's rhythm, lying on the soft grass watching clouds go by. There's all kinds of doves around me almost singing a lullabye.Your fav place can be absolutely anwhere it can be real or not. The main thing is take yourself to your place. The rest of the world is totally gone, just you and your place until you decide it's time to return. The music floats along with you.Always maintain your deep belly breathing. I hope this can be of some benefit to folks out there. It's quite common at the beginning to once in a while have other throughts intrude, let them pass by then let them go again. Don't be discouraged, it took me a bit to really get into it but now when I get up it's like my whole body gives a sigh of relief.

sometimes I like to envision that all the air I breathe in collects stress or anger or inflammation and then I breathe it out and it\'s gone. ahhhh. thanks for all the great info here.
Hi Kitty , yes I agree , I used to do a lot of yoga and it involved the deep breathing and relaxation at the end of every workout . It really does help . My husband and I also took a ten part group seminar on Rheumatoid Arthritis and they also taught us deep breathing for pain control . Thanks for sharing this , it will benefit a lot of people , it sure reminded me of what I need to do ! Love Sue .
