The rare disease that I just got diagnosed with today is interstitial cystitis. I could loose my hair or it could turn into bladder cancer. I feel like I am dying inside. I am so depressed. I am seeing a therapist and a pycharisit on Friday. I am going to try to teach tomorrow. How can I pretend that everything is okay?

I was diagnosed with IC 7 years ago and you are not going to loose your hair, this is not a cancer and its not that rare believe me there is a lot of us with this problem, just calm down take a deep breath, the more stressed you are, the more you will fell pain in your bladder, start drinking a lot of water chew on Tums to neutralize your urine, avoid acid foods\" OJ, Tomatoes,, caffeine chocolate\" Spicy foods. Look for a good Urologist that is familiarized with IC, don\'t think negative there is some options out there, there is no cure but you can\'t keep the symptons under control. If you want i can give you nore info. Just don\'t panic i know it\'s scary when it\'s all new to us but you will learm more about the problem has time goes, i wil more than glad to answer any questions you have.
God bless
Have a good night
PS:
I\'m so sorry about your diagnosis, it sounds very scary. I believe you have found a good friend in beta2008 and I am sure she can help you with some good advice. Can you get a medical leave from your teaching job in order to get your health back together?
sometimes being around the students takes our minds off things. It seems as though life is just one problem after another. We get one solved, and another crops up. But, what are we going to do? Just go on solving our problems, I guess. I will remember you in my prayers. Love and hugs, Vicki
I hope you are feeling better. I\'m thinking about you.
