Went to a meeting for my codependency tonight. I needed it, even though I had a decent day keeping up with my goals. I meditated this morning, worked out, and went to church, all of which had me feeling pretty good. That, unfortunately, did not stop me from breaking sobriety in one program, but I'm seeing it as a learning opportunity. I didn't take care of my need for rest soon enough, so I'm going to be more aware of that going forward.I want to retool my meditation goal, as the progress slider isn't really great. I think if I use the sober model, it'll work just fine.  Tonight was the first time that I took notes at a meeting, and I came out with a whole lot. We focused on the fourth step, which I haven't quite reached, but that doesn't mean I can't identify with some of the topics. My key insight, as I shared it, is that I get so wrapped up in this idea of trying to be perfect so I can avoid criticism that I lose sight of my own humanity. I grew up in an uber-competitive environment - if it wasn't my parents tearing me down for some mistake, it was the kids in my neighborhood, who would pounce on every little mistake. So to this day I feel like it's important to do everything perfectly. But that's just not possible. I keep forgetting that. I keep expecting that I should just automatically be an expert at everything I try, and that doesn't work, so I'll either become obsessive about something or not try at all. Weird, that. I also noted that right now is possibly bottom - a girlfriend who's out of work, having lost such an important friend, having just survived a fire in the building - and I need to be patient and gentle with myself. Hell, I'm happy that I'm coping so well. I just need to keep turning it over to my Higher Power. That's the key.
