40 weeks

I am 40 weeks today from my LMP~ my due date is this Saturday. I had an ultrasound yesterday to see the position and size of the baby for the induction that my OBgyn is allowing me to have. I love him tons because he won't let his patients go past 41 weeks due to risk of stillbirth, but he's open to inducing around your 39 1/2 week mark if you don't want to wait. I'm not trying to be a whiny, don't want to wait kind of person, but the risk of stillbirth really scares me and he knows this. The ultrasound showed that baby is in "launch position", is about 7 1/2 lbs give or take a pound on either side, is still a girl , but my cervix still has no changes! Argh. She has no intention of coming out on her own, and he feels that even if I wait a week, I'd still need to be induced.
So, my induction is set for this Saturday (my due date) at 7 am in the morning. Originally he told me that if it doesn't work the first day, they send you home and try again the next. Because I have Asthma, I will have to stay in the hospital until I deliver so they can monitor me on the meds. He was very up front and told me it could take up to three days for the induction to work but he hopes that he'll be able to have me delivered the same day. He also told me my chance of C-section is greater this way. I really don't care either way, I'm more concerned about getting this little girl out safely.
I am getting tired of hearing everyone's horror stories and opinions each day that I tell them they are going to induce me. I have finally resolved myself to kindly stating that this is my first time, I don't know what to expect, so ignorance in itself is bliss; Everyone has different birth experiences and horror stories with regard to EVERY delivery they've had or chosen to do.
So, There is my update. I'm excited, a nervous wreck, and so ready to meet this little girl already. Thank you to those who have supported me throughout this pregnancy.
