40 Pounds of Peaches

My husband bought like 35 to 40 lbs of peaches. There are just 2 of us. They are ripened on the tree... and do not stay good for very long. My husband is not a project person. He does not really think ahead very far at all about... anything.

I asked him what we were going to DO with all of them? Uh.... he hadn't thought about it. THey just LOOKED good and I love them... he said....

"I do not eat peaches. These are going to go bad... quickly".

Deer in the headlight look....

"We don't have a freezer. And I don't can."

So I went and bought fruit fresh and set it on the counter..... "How do I use this?" he wondered.

"Google it."..... I watched a movie.

I learned a LONG time ago that I can not have projects that involve him in any way. ... or there is hell to pay. I do not eat peaces nor do I bake. I rarely eat sweets... so hubby got to wash, cut, chop, fresh fruit , bag and take 5 gallons of fruit to his mom's. I did not get involved. He didn't really complain but I told him.... "You do NOT want to come home on Monday after work and deal with all that... I know how tired you are....I'm just saying.... " in other words... it is today, tomorrow, or they go to the Dumpster... seriously.

It's happened too many times.  Goobs of fruit thrown out...

It was a good movie. In fact I had seen it before but really didn't remember how it ended. It's a funky title. Kate Winslet and Jim Carrey are in it. Very good movie where they have a relationship but she gets 'bored and disgrundled' and she has her memory erased. So then Jim Carrey has HIS memory erased as well in order to forget her. The filming is brilliant. They actually meet AGAIN after the erasing... and start a relationship up again. Very interesting and fun movie.

The nurse practitioner from our health insurance came today. She said all is very well other than i don't eat often enough. my 3 month blood sugar level sits at 60. Needs to be at around 100 i think. She said eat more often. I dont' like doing that. I like to eat a big meal or two a day... but she said no. oh well. She has RA, too. She said she does not take anything for it. But lives in pain every day. NOT the way I want to live. Not at all. But she is single. And works full time.

Looking forward to tomorrow. Meeting my cousins. I think there are about 8 of us that will be there. Only 3 won't.. and one lives 700 miles away. The rest of us live in the tri county and are very close proximity. it will be fun

Kudos for the peachy handling of the great peach fiasco. I DO enjoy working kitchen magic., and I'd still be pissed if somebody dropped 35 pounds of ANYTHING in my lap without warning. That is not an impulse-size project, even when I happen to have all the ingredients and tools on hand.

Ironically, despite my fondness for cooking, I still tend to starve myself. One of my shrinks accused me of playing with my food when I cook. When I can get myself to eat on a regular basis, it really is amazing how much better I feel and how much more stable my emotions are. When I start my psycho-cycling, the first questions my most insightful therapy supporters ask is, "Have you eaten?" Typically, I haven't. The *simple* act of eating stabilizes me immediately, at least a little bit. Sometimes completely.

Hope the reunion goes well. Enjoy. I have 30 or 40 odd cousins and don't know a single one of them. Color me envious that you get to party with 5 cousins.
