4 Wks Post-Op, Losing Again, Craving Solid Food!
Weight: 265.2
Amazing what seeing progress on the scale will do for my mental and emotional well being! I have to remember that drop and pause to adjust is normal. It's also what helps prevent some of the baggy skin issue. I don't know what I was thinking...this isn't the Biggest Loser. I can't expect to see 20 pounds a week, nor would I really want to. Baggy skin!!
So I've adjusted my expectations more in line with reality. I'm hoping to lose at least another 100lbs. At 10lbs/month that's next September...1 year from when this whole thing began. To be at my goal weight in 1 year? That would be so awesome! Of course I can always work toward and hope for a lower weight than that but if I can even come close to 165 I'll be whooping and hollering and dancing until the sun rises!
As far as work goes I actually got low censused my first night back (required to stay home on call due to too many nurses for the number of patients). First time in 13 years. Weird huh? I think they over-scheduled thinking I may not be able to work. Bottom line is I only had to work 2 shifts.
The hardest part was not actually fatigue to my surprise. It was trying to get the timing and amount of food correct. It's hard to eat every 3 hours when I'm running to deliveries and drawing labs and helping with breastfeeding etc. etc. When I did get my little meal I was so hungry it was hard to make 3 ounces of pureed food last 15 minutes. Eating too fast = pain! Gotta get a better system. I may have to do mainly shakes at work and just sip them all night, getting a meal or 2 in when I can. I made up a salmon pate for tonight. No heating. Just take a baby spoonful when I can get it in. A work in progress!
The other issue that started this week was that I've really been craving solid food. It's good that I can have real food again but a significant challenge to keep myself from just popping a piece of meat in my mouth without pureeing it first. Food just doesn't have the same zing when blended together in a paste! I just keep reminding myself just a few more days until I can graduate to soft foods. It's not steak and salad yet but at least I won't have to eat puree!
