4 weeks today!
I've made 28 days today. I feel great. I am spending about 10 hours a week in the gym since I have stopped drinking and it is filling the void of wanting to drink. I still at times want to drink. Especially when I come home from work.
This morning I woke up at six. I went out on my balcony with a coffee and looked at Bangkok feeling like I am doing what I want. I feel in control. I'm just not going to waste anymore time in drinking as this stops me doing what I truly want to do. I'd be in bed still if I was drinking. Off I went to the gym and had a great work out. I am taking each day as it comes but I am now telling people that I no longer drink which I think is an important statement to make. I am also thinking ahead as if I am mentally preparing myself for social situations where I will want to drink or be pressured to drink.
I have given myself a new goal to focus on as I think this will take away the want to drink. Within the next 2 months, I want to get down to around 5% body fat. At the moment I am at 15% which is in the healthy range but with training and strength training this is where I will make great results. Drinking is the worst impact you can have on your body for strength training. I keep telling myself this as I go to the gym.

The past week, I have felt more of an urge to drink. I went to a party last night and at the start of the party I really felt like drinking. They had my favourite beer on keg! I didn\'t drink as I knew that I would be letting myself down. I got over that feeling pretty quick and I had a good time. I caught up with some people and was home by 9 pm.
As long as I have my fitness goals I will be ok as I am focussed so I am putting my energy somewhere else.
I have a friend that has booked a holiday to come and visit me here in BKK. I usually drink with this guy to excessive levels. I told him that I no longer drink but he laughed and didn\'t believe me.
I am determined not to drink when he comes out. I told him that I\'ll go to all the bars but just won\'t drink. I am going to have to find some good strategies to make sure I don\'t drink
I have really found that it is other people that have issues with non drinkers. It is like they are so concerned that you will not have a good time or that you will be the one remembering all the bad stuff that happens. I\'ve never been like that I never care how drunk people get as I was usually much drunker than them.
It is a challenge when we live in a society that associates social events, special occasions with drinking.
I knew that if I drank I would not be going to the gym this morning. It is 6:30 and now I am off to the gym. Glad I didn\'t drink! I\'m now on 5 weeks. I am trying to stop counting the days and weeks as I want to be my life..
