4 Months.....
4 months may not sound like alot to some, but to me, it's priceless. Our son has been clean, sober, working and helping his pregnant GF get into rehab herself. She has no helping family nor did she have health insurance, she was out on her own while our son was working hard in rehab at getting himself back together. He then helped her get insurance, get into a program and now with a baby on the way he is looking for an apt for the three of them. His financials are in ruin, he is working at that as well. He bought a 300.00 car that needs work and he is getting to that as well. He has a job he loves, for a year, hopefully they will hire him on permanently.
Our visits have been so easy, so much joy. Our conversations are easy and what they should've been all these years.
He has regrets he didn't stop this sooner, or that he even started. But he is of sound mind to know that he took a journey that is making him stronger and he is working on getting his family relationships back together.
I'm not sure if this baby will help or hurt the two of them. I'm fearful, but also know that I must step back and let him take care of his own family at this point. I will guide him, will support their decision and be happy for them.
I'm not sure what made him change his mind and get sober. I know that had the GF NOT called 911, as some asshole they were with that got them the dope told her NOT to do, he would NOT be with us today. She loves him, he loves her. He WANTS her sober and is helping her to keep on that track.
He is showing me a side to him I didn't know existed. I tell him all the time how proud I am of him.
Will this continue on? Only God knows for sure. But I will pray for them, be happy for the moments and love them.
It can happen, I have more faith in God than I ever have had. I don't go to church, not that type of religious, but I have faith and I pray and I give thanks daily.

You should be so proud and rightfully so. To some of us 4 months is almost like a lifetime. I have been struggling with my daughter for almost 10 years and during that time she had a baby that was born addicted to opiates. She was never deciplined because it was all prescribed medication and she had the medical staff all fooled. She finally smartened up and with the help of suboxone got off the opiates only to depend on benzo\'s anything that will keep her from facing the world. She is currently in a sober house but I haven\'t seen much improvement yet.
Currently her son is with his dad but luckily I have a good relationship with him so I get to keep him Thursday to Sunday which I am so grateful for. His mother does come and visit but if I think she is high or looks loopy (that\'s what I call it) I send her on her way with no visit.
I pray for the day that I can say my daughter is 4 months clean and on her way to sobriety. I do support her but no more enabling, I did that way to long.
Good luck to all of you, tell your son everyday how proud you are of his accomplishments, he deserves it.
Hugs,
Pat
