3rd time\'s a charm? Unlikely

I came off my Warfarin after a year long course last November. My specialist didn't recommend an ultrasound to be sure the clot was gone, as she was fairly certain it would be. I, however, decided to have an ultrasound done anyway. If three months after coming off the warfarin I was to discover another clot, I'd like to be sure that this is a NEW clot and not the same one from before that just didn't go away. So anyway, yesterday was my follow up doppler. It took a lot longer than I'd have liked to have it done, but various billls over Christmas, adding to over $1100, made paying for a doppler too difficult. But finally, after 2 months of no Warfarin, I had my doppler. And the news wasn't as good as I'd hoped. Turns out that the doppler I had been sent for wasn't the one I needed, and that my previous clot was actually in my external iliaca vein, around my abdomen. Since the doctor doing the doppler wasn't specialised in this field she simply had a look and recommended I go into the nearest capital city (Canberra) and have a Duplex Doppler done. Upon viewing the vein and comparing it to my previous films, she feels that there is a good chance that the clot remains. So my duplex doppler is being done in 2 days, and I'm going nuts thinking about the fact that I may have to go on warfarin again. Here's my major problem: I live 110kms away from the nearest hosiptal. It snows here in winter. Should I experience bleeding in winter, there is a very slim chance I'd get to a hospital in time to be saved. Even in summer, it would still take a good 20 minutes by helicopter to get to Canberra hospital. When I came off the warfarin last time, I swore that if I had to go through this again I would be leaving this town and moving back to Adelaide to be closer to my mum (a nurse) and a hospital. But now that there's a chance it's happening all over again, I'm not sure I'm prepared to make all the sacrifices necessary. Keep your fingers crossed for me, I shall tell you all about it on friday night
