3AM

As most of you know, I keep odd hours because of my job.  And, I keep even odder hours on my days off.  I get up at 3 AM on Saturdays and Sundays.  Saturdays because I do my laundry early in the morning so it'll be cool to mow the lawn.  Sundays because I'm trying to get back to my normal sleep schedule for the work week.  It's always the same on Saturday and Sunday.  The first thing is let Foxy out to do her business.  Well, this Saturday morning I got a surprise.  There were three teenage boys standing at a window at the house next door.  It wasn't hard to figure out why they were there.  A teenage girl lives there and that's her bedroom window.  But what is really hard to figure out is the bigger picture.  Why were those boys allowed out at that time in the morning.  Where were their parents?  Don't they know OR care where their children are at that time in the morning?  Do they want to know?  Our town has curfews for teenagers and the latest they can be out is midnight.  Every parent should know that.  I know I'm old and times have changed, but parental responsibility should have not changed.  When I was a teenager, my parents knew where I was at three in the morning because they told me where I would be.  At home.  If I was to be out after midnight, they knew where I was and I would be home soon.  I think it should be the same, now.  There is no reason for a teenager to be out at three in the morning.  Parents need to be parents, not friends of their children.  Take the responsibility to be a parent and know where your children are because you told them where they will be.
