Wednesday October 3, 2007 - I went to the audiologist today to get my hearing checked. Back in 1996 I was told I had hearing loss in both ears and I was a borderline case at that time for a hearing aid. My hubby had been complaining lately I haven't been hearing stuff so I made the appointment. She tested my hearing and sure enough high frequency hearing loss in both ears pretty substantial for a person my age. She says they usually see this degree in quite a bit older people and said there may be some genetic predisposition. So now I definitely need hearing aids, but even though I knew it was coming it still is somewhat upsetting to me. I mean they aren't that noticeable but still it bothers me. Also, they are costly and my insurance doesn't cover them so the stress of forking out the money is also stressful to me. I guess I will just do what I have to do. I will keep you all informed. Later. Cheryl

I had to have my hearing checked, because Brendy was complaining about me not hearing things. When I came home and told her about how much they would cost I thought she was going to pass out.I still haven`t forked out the money for them,Think I will wait until I can get Medi-cade to pay for them.If not I guess I will wait until I can save up and get them.I didn`t think they would be so high in price but I guess they have made a lot improvements in the last ten years.I lost a lot of high frequency hearing due to being around loud genorators, and power plants, and refineries.

Hearing aids are very expensive indeed. My hubby couldn\'t believe it when I told him the price either and my insurance won\'t cover it until I am sixty five. Like sure I can wait over twenty years for a hearing aid NOT.
