First Entry

I am writing my first entry as a letter to God to come into my husbands life and help him make smart choices about the addictions that are stealing his life. The drinking and smoking that have been going on for years are going to one day come back to bite him. With that said here goes.
Dear God,
I know You are real, I know that You can do all things. I also know that You can choose to not do something. You are not the one who tempted my husband with that first puff and first drink. You have given him message after message through me, through our pastor's Sunday messages, through our boys that he needs to quit. He is not heeding any of those messages. So, God, now I am asking for you to step in and take the wheel. Really put a thorn in his side, send your angels to him in a dream, show him what life will be like if he continues down this path. With every puff of the cigar he takes and every sip of vodka he drinks, have it make him so sick at his stomach that he can only turn from them. I feel if You would help that to happen each and every time, that he would get the point and stop. Who is going to continue to do something that makes them violently ill? I don't want him to end up with some horrible disease, but just make him sick at his stomach to where he knows it is You calling him to quit.

God, I do not want to live with an alcoholic the rest of my days (or his). I don't want my kids to continue to see their dad do stupid things with his life. I want them to see a strong, God fearing, Jesus loving, Christian. One who wants to put You first and teach his kids how to do the same. I don't want us to continue to have conflict and to struggle. I want us to enjoy each others company, to like to spend time together without it ending in a fight. I don't want things to be uncomfortable when we are in the same room, with tension filling the air. Lord help our entire family to get through this. I am not saying I am perfect, as I know I have my many faults as well Lord. Help me to learn to love my husband the way I should and please help him to love himself and his family enough to want to quit bad habits to try and make sure he is here for us for many more years.
In Your Son's Name, Jesus Christ,
AMEN!
