UPDATE
ok. here goes. sorry i havent been around much. been busy. kinda living between two houses gettin moved. back and forth between babysitter, working , and taking care of things. i got court tomarrow... or today technically. it was suposed to be all said and done. i proposed a parenting plan, restricting visitation, or for supervised visits only. he has yet to ask to see her. i tried to serve him with the papers, an dhe refused. i ended up having to mail it to him, and now he says he didnt pick it up in time, so ask for a continuance. and he has a lawyer, that he DIDNT register that info with the court. i had no idea. and his lawyer wants to appoint a guardian at litem. im scared. im still going to court tomarrow. i dont know whats going on. i feel like im walking in the dark hoping i dont trip. i know so little about court matters, and cant afford a lawyer. part 2\went to court today. it was continued of course, but got to see the other cases. and i feel i really need a lawyer. im scared. next week final date. got a couple appointments tomarrow so hopefully it works, maybe someone will help me.

Hey girl...sounds tough....hopefully you will get a good lawyer to help you. Seems so unfair...a man who has not asked to see his daughter while you have been there for her every day.....makes no sense. But then again, sometimes our laws don\'t favor what is right, eh? Hang in there, you can do this. Love and hugs to you,
Brigette

His lawyer wants to appoint a guardian at litem? Doesn\'t that mean that his lawyer wants the court to appoint a lawyer for you, right? Isn\'t this just about child support? DNA has proved he\'s the bio-dad, so doesn\'t that mean he has to pay child support? Does he want visitations? Is he asking for them? Do you think his parents might have something to do with the whole thing? Maybe they want visitations, or something? Why does his lawyer think you need one? Could it be a scare tactic? I\'m asking because that is exactly what happened to me when I went after my son\'s dad for child support. First off he put us through the whole DNA testing thing, and I\'ve told you before, my son was 10 yrs old at the time, he wasn\'t stupid, he knew what was going on. I knew who his bio-dad was, his bio-dad knew who his bio-dad was! He thought I would back down if I had to put Jimmy through the test, he thought WRONG! He had a lawyer. He also had to pay for the tests, what an idiot! His next tactic was to claim he wanted JOINT custody! I was scared out of my flippin head! Jimmy didn\'t even know his creepy, bio-dad! We lived in Nevada, and he lived in Texas. When Jimmy was in kindergarten his creepy, bio-dad looked up my sister in TX because HE wanted to be a part of his son\'s life. You know, without paying child support, of course! When I told him I wanted, get this...$40 a month, yep, you read that right, forty dollars a month, without going through the courts, just as a token effort to also support Jimmy in the financial respect. Oh, sure, he wanted the fun of coming out to Vegas, with gifts, believing he was some kind of a hero, but when I brought up the money matter, he was gone. Disappeared, moved from where ever it was he lived in TX, changed his phone number, POOF...gone, over 40 bucks a month! Zoom forward, 5 YEARS later he wants JOINT custody if he\'s forced to pay child support through the court system. Got himself a lawyer! I was the maddest I\'ve ever been in my life! It was hard not to let Jimmy see how mad and scared I was. I never wanted to bad mouth the bio-creep! And then, I got a letter stating that if I stopped asking for child support, he would stop asking for JOINT custody! Was the f\'ing money even worth it, I wondered? Of course that\'s what he, and his stupid lawyer, wanted me to wonder! I\'m getting pissed just thinking about it! I wasn\'t on welfare, so I was on my own, no one really cared if he paid child support, or not. See, I was told if I was on welfare, and if the state was going after him for child support, they would have got it. Period. But I was a single mom, working hard to support myself and 2 lovely children (Amanda has a different bio-dad).I was on my own, without a lawyer, and without the funds to go out and get one. NO WAY, absolutely NO WAY was I going to send my son to Texas for some JOINT custody thing! I almost backed down. But I was MAD, too. I had all the info for Nevada\'s Family Support Division, to go after him in Texas, right down to where he worked, and still nothing, no child support, just this gigantic court battle. I was making phone calls like you wouldn\'t believe! I finally ended up talking with the Attorney General, for like an hour! He actually listened to me, the whole story, tears included, out of my head with fear. He told me to call his bluff, he also told me, joint custody & visitation rights had nothing to do with each other. I got my lousy 128 dollars a month. Jimmy has never seen, or heard from his dad since. It\'s a f\'d up story, I know. My beautiful son.
Dracona, don\'t back down. Try any, and everything! I\'m so sorry you\'re going through all of this crap! Dead beat dads get that name for a reason. I\'m here for you, sweetie. That creep can\'t take the baby away from you, he\'ll be doing good if he gets supervised visitation rights, and who knows? He might not even want them.
Love you and Ariyah...xxxooo Robin
There should be a program to supply you with a lawyer; ask at your local women\'s shelter. You need one, if he is going to play this game. Good luck!
