Been crazy busy the last few weeks. Going through another 'bout' with my son and his school.... they are still pushing for a special day class while I think he would thrive more in a regular ed class, as the one they would place him in is not appropriate. My ex husband and I are at the point of considering private school for him.... that's going to feel lovely on the pocketbook. At this point I miss so much work due to picking him up from school, doc appts and IEP meetings... I just want him to do well and have some sanity in my own life - it seems so short lived.

Isn\'t it hard?? People don\'t know what we go through with Autistic kids. Mine just in Kindergarten alone was bounced to three different schools before we settled on this one, that we are happy with. We are both elated with the school he is in now, it\'s a GOOD school! It\'s about 20 minutes away but worth it IMO. He is bussed ofcourse, the school is really safe and the teachers are amazing there. He\'s been learning so much.
My advice is to talk to the district superintendent of the school district and have a real \"talk\" with them and maybe they can help. The school district superintendent for the schools he\'s supposed to go to even sent my son to a whole nother district because she admitted this school was better and she wanted what was best for our son! We thought it was amazing. Good luck...*HUGGG*
And try different schools out if you have to. If you have an instinct about something just try and follow it...because our little guys really can\'t talk for themselves a whole lot :/
^ and i don\'t just mean \"autistic kids\" i mean all kids with disabilities, Autism, ADHD, ADD, etc etc. It\'s hard having a child with a learning disability. I have had to wait forever for a puppy and i\'ll never get one cause Nathan will never grow up, LOL
I know what you mean. Ryan\'s sensory/adhd falls under the Autism Spectrum Disorder, but when they tested him for Autism he had 6 charactoristics (as is needed to fit the \'definition\', however, he needed atleast 2 in each of the three areas - he had 3 in two of the areas so they classify him as ADHD. It\'s just hard because most ppl assume ADHD kids just dont listen. I feel like saying its not that he is not listening, he cant even hear you, he is in another place sometimes.
