Today's IEP meeting went very well. Ryan has progressed substantially, now that he is receiving his occupational therapy during school. We will be implementing a new sensory diet while in the classroom, to help him learn to manage his need for sensory input. I feel very positive about this.
However, he is still very behind academically. This is his second time around in kindergarten and now that alll the other aspects of his behavior and OT are coming together I had hoped we'd see more success with him academically. It may be related to the AD/HD and it may also he an underlying learning disabilty. It is too soon to tell.
But, somehow, even with this news, I feel ok about it. I am not worried. I just know I will do what I have to to get my son the resources he needs. It's time for battle.
