Had a visit from the ex MIL last night. She called to see if she could come over and give the kids something for thier trip. I was busy but I said okay.
She came in and started looking all around. The ex does that..when he is brave enough to set foot in the door. Kitchen was a mess but my Roses were sitting in the center of the table. Impossible to miss those and she didn't. She also looked at my picture collage..the one with my wedding picture very noticibly missing..I have not found one to take it's place so there are a bunch of pictures around it with a big empty space in the middle.
Didn't want her to start calling all of her friends and telling them that I am a slob so I had the boys take her upstairs to show her thier rooms. Upstairs is spotless..
She told me that she doesn't know how I do it all. She never did it all. She didn't work and she had someone to clean for her. Her mother usually had one of her kids..but never both at the same time. A very unusual family. When my ex and his sister were little they ate at a seperate table...until they had good enough "table manners" to eat at the "big table". Crazy people. I used to think that my ex made a miraculous escape from that madness but now I think that some of it must have stuck with him. Still no excuse..he spent years living in complete sanity..with me.
Realized last night that relationships are going to be a bit tricky. So much easier the first time around..with just myself to consider. Seems a bit strange to "date". After being married for so long..casual seems off. Serious seems scary. Making a committment seems like a reason to BE committed. Luckily..I think I have someone who is willing to figure it out as we go along. Makes me like him even more.
About 20 things left on my to-do list before I leave for vacation. I can do it.
Happy first day of Summer...

Always good to read your journal. Lets me see how the level headed people live. You can do it \"all\" because you are supermom..
Really awesome about your friend willing to figure things out with you, he is a lucky guy.
You have a good one..
The roses sound wonderful! I\'m so behind on my reading so I\'ll have to catchup on the scoop. You are doing so well if you have only 20 things left to do before your vacation, I have many more than that!
I agree with Richkm... you are a supermom and role model for so many of us other moms here!
Can\'t date \'em, can\'t shoot \'em!
LOL Holly...guess we\'ll have to think of something in between to do with\'em..
Holly, don\'t take your guns to town.
Che, dating is more complicated - agree with you 100% there. When we were young, we kept it from our parents. Now we keep it from our children.
I bought my new bed and shows my 14 year old. It has the separately rolled coils so someone else can get in and out of bed and you don\'t get bounced.
His reply: \"Who else is going to be in this bed??\"
I said \"Your brothers with snacks!!\"
I agree - not sure if I could go into a \"casual\" realtionship. good luck navigating your way with the wonderful new man.
Dating is complicated with the kids involved. Not really sure how to begin myself. A bit scared, LOL. Anyway, glad you found someone who understands you and hopefully you\'ll figure things out as you go along. Have fun on vacation.
Dating at 41 can be discouraging because I\'m now considered \"damaged goods\". The good thing about is that most women have already established their careers and families. The bad thing about is that most women have already established their careers and families!
I guess I\'ll just hang out in the bull pen for a while and observe it all in a thoroughly anthropological manner.
have a great vacation.
