Since I wrote a mini-story about my Mom on Mothers day..I thought I would say a few things about my Dad today..

My dad is a funny guy..a practical joker. He used to dress up on halloween and hide in the bushes..jumping out to scare the bigger kids when they came to the door. He was always willing to do anything. Never one to get embarrased.. I've seen him dress up in some pretty unusual get-ups..usually for the kids at vacation Bible school when they were doing a play. He will do anything to get a laugh from a kid.

A fairly traditional family man..my Dad has always been a provider. He can fix anything. A creative mind and the ability to make it happen is a great combination. He designed and built headboards for my kids beds. I am going to take pictures of them and post them soon. No unfinished projects around the house..when he starts something..he finishes it.

My Dad is precise. The checkbook is perfect. He is my picture hanger because when he hangs something it is always perfectly strait and not about to move. That is the Engineer in him.

Dad doesn't talk for the sake of talking.  When he does say something it is meaningful. When i told my dad that I was going to Divorce my ex..he said "in the end..you will be better off". Having never said anything negative to me about my ex before..those words spoke volumes to me. He had obviously kept his opinions to himself over the years.  He does that too.

My Mother being the more dynamic one of that duo..my Dad has stayed mostly in the background.  Solid as a rock..he provides her with a launching pad so that she can do her thing. Sometimes he does it with her, sometimes he doesn't.  He has done many things in life because of her. She has been able to do many things in life because of him.

Complete opposites..it is amazing that they have the marriage that they have.  They have both had to become experts at negotiating and compramising.

I look like my Dad. I have his green eyes..and his work ethic. My dad is pretty tolerant but he can't stand lazy.

There is a theory that women tend to marry men that are like thier Fathers. Thats what I should have done. smiley-tongue-out.gif

HAPPY FATHERS DAY to all my DS friends that are Fathers. Your ex's and stbx's probably won't tell you today how much they appreciate the Fathers that you are. They won't tell you how important you are in your kids lives. They won't tell you that your relationships with your kids are vitally important for them to grow up and feel secure and happy with themselves. Your kids need your point of view and the stability that you add to thier lives.

Since they won't tell you..I thought that I would. A lot of great dad's out there. Something to celebrate today.

What a great Dad you have! You\'re very lucky. My Dad also loves to fix things around the house. But then he loves to tell you how he did it. Sometimes, hearing how he fixes something takes longer than fixing it. But you just reminded me, I better call him now and wish him a Happy Father\'s Day before I forget :)

I need to borrow your parents for a week to straighten my ass out. Your mom\'s sense of humor, wit and charm. Your dad caring and concern and I need help with project around my house!!! I can\'t change the showerhead. Been trying all day. WD-40, wrench and gut strength. Darn thing is NOT moving! Brothers won\'t help (never do)-- no close male friends. I want a decent shower for a change!! This showerhead sucks! Well, guess take a cue from your journal the other day--going to take a bath tonight-using YOUR candles. No kid, so I can totally relax. Hope you had a great weekend. I survived. Wasn\'t great, but have to admit--the are getting less bad. Man, I am impatient. Can ya tell?

Thanks for the happy fathers day. My daughter said that to me, but my son did not. The X didn\'t say anything either. You have wonderful parents, you are very lucky...have a good one

This journal entry was a masterpiece. Your father was the man that I and all other men should want to be. \"Projects were always finished\" - that is an extremely important mark of his character. The way you wrote about him makes me like him already which is also a reflection of your concise, clear-headed writing. I have no idea if my step-daughter will ever elevate me to the status you give your father but it was certainly always a vivid dream I had.

You wrote quite a wonderful tribute to your dad...he sounds like the kind of dad I had. I miss him (passed away in Oct. 1999)and I too should have married a man like him. Now, THAT, is greatness!
