Ex called last night..wondering if he gets the kids for the Memorial Day holiday.
I get these calls every once in a while. He has a copy of our divorce papers. I don't think that he has every really read them.
He got to the part where I waived alimony and signed on the dotted line.
Anyway..I told him that no, he doesn't "get" them but he can certainly spend that time with them. They can spend Sunday night..he can bring them home by 4 and we will have our cookout at supper time.
Interesting to me that I know every word, by heart, on those papers. He probably doesn't know where his are.
To me they represent how my kids are going to have to spend the rest of thier childhood..all the way through college. Very important. I put a lot of thought into them.
I wonder if he knows that for Thanksgiving, Christmas and New years I have to give him "adequate time with the children on or around the holiday"..
I wonder if he cares...
He signed those papers, that I would not have signed in a million years, telling me that he knows that I will do the right thing with the kids.
He is very lucky that he was right.

He doesn\'t get them for the entire holiday? Good because it seems X doesn\'t give them his undivided attention from what I read on your journals. Not that he is cruel or would ever hurt them physically, but he does not seem to be tuned into their emotional needs for sure. Your kids are ultra smart. They noticed Dad isn\'t tuned into them as he should be. You are a great mom and know when you kids are hurting inside. You are a great person to not let your kids know what a total ass their dad is, altough it seems to me, they are noticing that on teir own. LOL. but, its not because of you.
Just a representation of the whole ball o wax, huh?
Somehow, it\'s hard to get used to it - even though there are no real surprises left.
We want better for our children. Yet, we cannot change anyone else.
I feel for you.
My ex told me she was leaving town without the kids the week of June 11. She just informed me of this last week. Now, just yesterday, she tells me she\'ll be back sometime on the 19th. So I guess I have two weeks to find help with the kids so I can work!
Our parenting agreement does not allow for this kind of thing - but what choice do I have? I do not wish to throw my children at a mother that does not care, or even want them around.
You and I are doing what we know is right by our kids.
I am glad that you keep writing. I do not like seeing what you have to deal with, but I guess it helps me know I am not alone.
Fortunately for your kids they have a mom that cares deeply about them. Everyday you always keep site what\'s truly important in life, the kids, well beings of family and friends and giving of yourself freely. Someday, a lucky fella is going to sweep you off your feet, but until then, you keep them kids first and stay the same great person you are. After all, who else is going to make up for their father\'s shortcomings.
Interesting - I have a friend who\'s going through the divorce now too and both he and I had to fight for joint physical custody - and he\'s still fighting for 50/50 while I got a bit less then that.
Our respectives stbx\'s should be relieved to have actively involved fathers for their children rather than giving us a hard time over it.
It\'s my ex\'s \"year\" for the kids this Memorial Day, but he\'s working instead (priorities, you know!), so they will be with me, which is a-okay. He also asked my parents to watch them overnight on Saturday because he has an \"event.\" I\'m glad that they will be with grandparents rather than a sitter, but it still steams me that he has other plans during his weekend with them. Guess I need to let that go. Your ex may be in for a rude awakening around Nov/Dec.
Blues..AMEN..double AMEN and triple AMEN... don\'t understand a woman that is not thankful for an involved father..
I can only imagine scheduling holidays with my stbx... he doesn\'t even have a place to take my daughter other than his sisters. I pray he finds a place soon.
You are a great mom and your kids are your priority, you have things straight... You ex just is stupid that\'s all (sorry I had to say it) :->
