Not sure how I feel about this one..

Reece refers to the gf as daddy's "tin can girlfriend"..???

Today I asked him why he calls her that..he said that you can "crush" a tin can.

That from a 6 yr old.

Connor calls her a "floozy"..that one I got.

Thinking that she does not have a snowballs chance in hell with my kids.

They don't talk about her often. I don't talk about her at all..unless they ask me a question..like when are they going to meet her..

They know that she is still married and has a little boy..and that she is also getting a divorce. They know that they will not meet her until after she is divorced.

They already have an opinion of her.

MY opinion is that they are entitled to it.

You can not hide character flaws from children. They see through a lie like looking through a window. I worked in Childrens Ministry for 6+ years. You can not fool a child.

Tin can? Crush? hmmm. As in daddy has a crush or as in he wants to crush the living daylights out of gf. Guess I can be grateful that I don\'t have to share my daugther with STBX GF. When her dad got a gf it was no big deal. He wasn\'t a part of her life at the time and did not become a part of her life until a few years later--after he married his gf. And I was never in love with him and was glad he got a gf so he would leave me alone.

I don\'t know where he got the crush bit either, but I like the term \"tin can girfriend.\" Maybe cause it sounds cheap, disposable, recycleable...

well..he acted like he was crushing something when he explained it to me.. he does that to empty soda cans..I am thinking that he is using the term \"crush\" literally..

I do same but my daughter is older and knows its just a topic I don\'t want to discuss. But as we separate/divorce and when daddy has visitation weekends with his daughter, I imagine my daughter will be spending more time with the GF... something I\'m prepared to handle.

Your kids sound like they have a pretty good handle on things. Even though they are young, they are not blind to the situation at hand.

When my stbx had her boyfriend in front of my kids it made me angry. It felt like I was losing my kids. They kept it quiet out of fear of hurting me. My daughter made a comment to her mom and got a reply of \"I\'ll talk to whoever I want to\". The babysitter heard it and told me my daughter was pissed off at her mom. Kids are smart, they know more than given credit for.

Like the tin can thing also. Good thing for the GF kids aren\'t bigger than adults :)

Yep, Holly\'s explanation is perfect if you ask me. I worry about that and for now we both agree the kids will be separate from any outside people unless it gets to the point of being serious.

You boys are smart, cute to I might add. Of course they have to thank their mom for a big part of that. I wonder if they have ever told him how they feel about her? I think it would be good if he could be open and understand why they feel that way. My only fear is that he would just try to defend himself and her instead of trying to understand their feelings, validating them and helping them move on.
