Karate Tonight!!
Connor has been in for 6 yrs and tonight he got his Brown Belt. Reece is a "little dragon" and got his red stripe belt. Ex missed it all and I reminded him yesterday. My ex has a black belt and instructors certificate in Kung-Fu so you would think he would be interested in how they do in Karate. I guess not so much.
I am going to have to figure out how to not let this stuff get to me.
Anyway..no frowny faces tonight. we celebrated and we are home. Stormy outside so it's nice to be inside.
No breaking up fights today. Just a calm, peaceful day..with a happy ending!!

I made no excuses for the ex. None of us brought it up. Everyone there clapped when they kicked their boards. I think i get more upset about this than they do. They are used to it. He didn\'t always come before. I wish that he would now because it would make them feel more secure about him. Can\'t do anything about it. I was there and it was GREAT!!!
I have noticed sometimes too that my kids are more accustomed the off behavior of my stbx than I am... makes me wonder how I missed the red flags in recent years.

okay..ex just called and he didn\'t forget..he just didn\'t come..asked the kids how it went. he was suprised about the Brown belt..I was too because he was supposed to be testing for the belt under it. His instructor let him skip a belt..doing great and taking on a \"leadership role\" in the class. Ex was very dissapointed. He would have been there if he knew that Connor was getting his Brown Belt. I am taking this to mean that only certain accomplishments of thiers warrents an appearance from him. What an ass. really...what an ass.

I do the same thing being disappointed with the stbx, I agree with riverwalker the kids get used to it quicker.
Congratulations to the boys, and to their awesome mom, who\'s stellar efforts of running back home for karate gear have paid off handsomely!
Truly sad, sorry you have to be disappointed. I make it a priority to be at all the functions I can. The kids love to have both of us there, so I can understand how you feel. I guess what\'s worst is the poor example he\'s giving to the boys. I hope they learn from you that it\'s so important to be there for them. They will remember these moments when your there and he\'s not. Have fun, hope the storm wasn\'t too bad and enjoy the boys, they are lucky to have you for a mom.
