Feeling kind of icky today. Letting go of Flower guy was harder than I thought it would be but..he really hasn't gone anywhere. I still think that this is the time for me to go it alone and make sure that my heart and mind are free and clear before I get too involved with anyone.

Been on the phone with the ex all weekend. Connor was starting to feel sick Friday night. Offered to keep him but ex assured me (and him) that he would take care of him. Deal was that if he still felt bad saturday or started running a fever dad would take him to pediatric night clinic. Calls all day and last night about what to do, how much of this and can he take that. Finally at 8pm he called and Connor was feeling bad, running a fever and what to do?? I met them at the night clinic and no strep or anything. A virus and he will have to tough it out. Then of course Reece wants to come home with me but his dad told him that he had popcorn and a movie so he went back to his place. I paid for the MD visit because ex said that he didn't have it.

No problem for me to be there for the kids but it is a little aggravating that ex has been a father for 10 yrs but can't manage to give a Tylenol without a consultation.

Okay..ex just called and says that Reece "6" is bugging him about wanting to go for a ride on the Motorcycle so he said that he would call mom and "ask"..doesn't have a helmet for a 6 yr old but he can put something in his to make it fit. Told him that i didn't know why I even needed to be asked this very stupid question but if I need to be the bad guy..then..HELL NO!! Tell Reece that MOM said NO he can't ride on the Motorcycle.

A 6 yr old on a Motorcycle with an ill fitting helmet!

I am not going to get into a popularity contest with my ex. Reece was doing a little "daddy dance" the other day because dad lets him go to grocery store with him and pick out whatever he wants to eat. He always gets a box of cookies. I don't. AND they get to eat that "really great" chef stuff in the can. I know that he only gets them every other weekend. I know that he wants to make them happy. BUT...They have to be safe. They have to eat fruit and vegetables..They have to act right. It's frustrating but I don't think that I would be doing them any favors by trying to "out-fun" dad.

Thinking that me having custody of the kids is a good thing!!!!

No my Friend don\'t try to \"out fun\" dad. That will get old after a while. Chef Boi Ardee only goes so far. Be the Mom. They\'ll realize that dad may be fun but he hasn\'t got a clue as to really being a \"Dad\".
And they\'ll know they can always count on you. You are doing all the right things. {{{Che2}}}

Thnaks, Jerry. I was just thinking..how does he look to his boys when he has to call mom about every little thing. They ask something and he says..wait..let me call and ask your mom.. they are sick and he says..let me call mom and ask her what to do.. not much of a father in my eyes..not much of a man either.

Kids are smarter than we think. Dad may be fun right now but not for long. All this stuff gets old. Believe me they feel safer with mom.

So by now, you don\'t need someone telling you your a good mom, but you are. That is sad he can\'t take care of them when they are sick. I guess he never stayed up with them when they are throwing up. My X will take care of them, but if I was home, I would do all the clean up while she comforted the kid. I don\'t know why, but when they are sick, they want mom. Oh, well.

No, he never cleaned up any kid throw-up.. Connor would get really upset when he was little and had to throw up so I would hold him and he would throw up on ME!! now..THATS a good mom.. then off to the tub to clean up together.. glad that he has outgrown that!! lol

I guess I\'ll agree with BC, they want mom. But when my kids are sick dad will do. They were sick during Nov and she would leave them with me. Guess I\'m doing ok with that

Che - I feel your frustration babe! The worst thing about the kids being with their dad - they eat out WAY too much. Good grief - and he says he doesn\'t have any money - wonder WHY!!!! Believe me - can not understand why it is so difficult to love and care for your own flesh and blood in a responsible, healthy manner. Sometimes it is hard to be the one who says no when dad will so easily cave in - but we are strong, loving women who have more than dead air between our ears! (No offense to the dad\'s out here - I just was \"lucky\" enough to find a real winner - I KNOW that there are super, wonderful dad\'s out there. I have such respect for those who are!!)

Cheers!

My ex lets the jellybean stay up late, then I have to put up with the scowling and whinging when the young fella returns home. Just a like a big holiday at dad\'s place, isn\'t it? You are a great mum and you know that kids need limits and they will love you even if you say no to a motorbike ride! Know what you mean about the flower guy. I have been asked out and it would be easy to say yes, but I know I won\'t be ready for a long time. Looking forward to going out with the girls one night soon though.
