You know how sometimes little things will happen, and you think how nice it was and what a good thing it was to happen to you?  I had a day filled with those little moments today......  The first one occured while I was at work. I went outside to take a smoke break, and across the parking lot from our building is a pasture. Today, there were 2 mama horses and 2 baby horses (I know they're called colts, but baby horses sounds cuter) in the pasture. The babies were frollicking around, as baby horses will do, and the mamas were standing by watching them play. I stuck my head in the door of the office and hollered for everyone to come see. They did, and a few of us decided to walk over to the pasture and get a closer look. When we did, one of the baby horses walked right up to me, stuck his nose across the fence and nuzzled my shoulder. What a sweet moment that was.  The second one occured after work, when I stopped by the grocery store on my way home. I was walking down the bread aisle, and noticed a mother and her son standing in front of the bread. The son, who looked to be about 11 or 12, had Down Syndrome. Now my 7 year old nephew also has Downs, so it's not unusual for me to be in tune with people with Downs. I smiled at the boy, and he smiled and said hello. Then he asked what my name was, I told him, and he shook my hand and said it was nice to meet me. THEN, he pointed to his mother, told me her name, and insisted that we shake hands. To me, it was a beautiful example of what can happen when we let go of our preconceived notions of other people, and just go with the flow of things.  The third (and final, I promise) thing happened about an hour ago. My mother and I went out for dinner at a local restaurant that we've been going to for years. Most of the people you see at this place are regulars, and it's kinda like a small town in itself. When we were getting in the car to leave, I looked back at the door, and walking up to the front door was a man, his wife, and his service dog. The man is blind, and he has had this same service dog for probably the past 6-7 years. I was watching them as they walked in the door, and I got a good look at the dog. His face was almost pure white, and he had such a look of devotion in his eyes that I almost started crying.  It was the perfect note to end my day on, and I can only hope that there will be more days like this in my future.
