I figured I should write a REAL journal entry after sharing my philosophy. Today is the start of a new year, and a chance to change....no, wait....I'm not gonna change a thing. I like being my usual smart-ass self, lol. My husband calls me a smart-ass all the time, and I tell him it's better than being a dumb-ass. I just see things sometimes and have to comment on them, and maybe sometimes my comments could be construed as being "smart-assish", but we only get one time around on this ride called life, and I'm not gonna die wondering. Here are my 10 RULES TO LIVE BY: 1. If you have a question, ask it. Even the smartest and greatest people that ever lived asked questions. That's how they got to be the smartest and greatest. 2. Don't be afraid to try new things. How do you KNOW you won't like sushi unless you try it? (yes I did, and no, I don't) 3. Don't be afraid to call things as you see them. If anyone is offended when you do this, they were probably doing something wrong in the first place. 4. Everyone should have at least one puppy and one kitten at some point in their life. Or at least those of us that don't have human children should. 5. At the end of every day, write down 3 things that you are thankful for. If you don't have 3 things, make them up. After a week, go back and read them all, and you're bound to be a little happier. 6. Go back and read some of the classics you were supposed to read in high school, but didn't. If you don't enjoy them, all you will have lost is a little time. I'm currently reading The Grapes of Wrath. Last year I read (and actually enjoyed) Moby Dick. 7. Keep an open mind to new ideas. One of the best quotes I've ever heard is "The true test of a first rate mind is the ability to hold two contradictory ideas at the same time." F. Scott Fitzgerald 8. If you need to rest, or slow down a little, DO IT! The world will NOT fall apart because there are dirty dishes in the sink. 9. If you need help with a task, (washing those dirty dishes maybe?) ASK FOR IT! People are much more receptive to the idea of helping you if you ask them, and 9 times out of 10, they will be happy to do so. 10. Stand by your convictions when they are right, but admit when they are wrong. Nobody ever lost a thing by saying "I'm sorry."

5. is good! I like that. 6. I did back in the 80s and 90s and I\'m sure I appreciated them more than I\'d have back in HS. 9. is good too. People usually just go get all pissy about not being helped, rather than asking for it. Nobody\'s a mindreader :) good list.

Happy New Year
