I saw my mother this weekend. She showed the girl an antique pencil sharpenor and a lighter shaped like a light house. Thewoman makes me crazy. She analyzes and comments on each and every detail. She follows you around the house and puts things back where they "belong". There have been times that I have purposely moved certain things by a 1/4 inch just to see if she notices, and she does. She started the minute I got there with the Plans for the Evening. Do you want to sleep on the couch or the bed? Where is the girl going to sleep? You'll have to put sheets down if she's going to sleep there. You'll have to make the bed if you're going to sleep there. Did you bring food? You know I don't have any in the house. I was able to ignore it when I was there. I was able to blow it all off on the ride home, which takes 5 hours. I was able to unpack my car, start the laundry, and relax. Until the phone call. She left 2 messages on my answering machine, because my uncle called her house because when I stopped there, after leaving her house in the morning, I stopped at his house and he gave me some stuff, but I forgot to get the coffee maker he was going to give me. I wouldn't have had room for it anyway, between my luggage, all the stuff my mother wanted to get rid of (Why, why, why would anyone need that much of anything?) which she made me pack into my car, I didn't have much room for the stuff that he was trying to get rid of and made me pack into my car as it was. The second call was simply to call her back as soon as possible. She leaves the message in such a way that you think that someone must have died for it to be that urgent. So I called her back. She was only calling to tell me that Uncle Lou called to remind me about the coffee pot. As I am not likely to spend another 10 hours in the car to go back and get it, there isn't alot I can do about it at this point but call my uncle and let him know that I know that I forgot about it. I did that. It was alot easier to talk to my unccle than my mother. Then she called back and spoke to my brother, and she cannot find the penccil sharpener or the light house lighter, and she thinks that the girl stold them. As I had already unpacked, and I had packed the car in the first place, I knew that she hadn't. But the reason that my mother thinks that she did is that my daughter did get caught taking some things 20 years ago, and my mother never got over it.I don't know how to deal with this and I have nowhere else to stay in Providence when I visit my grandson. My older daughter lives in Watertown, which is over an hour away and she doesn't really like it when I stay with her, and my younger daughter called me to let me know that she thinks I am the one that spilt the coffee on her counter and that I didn't scrape my plate into the trash when I couldn't finish the dinner she made me.So, I got complaints from my daughter and my mother from the same trip. Now I'm getting it from both ends.
