My motherĀ - negativity personified. My mother had OCD. I live about 5 hours away, and she lives 5 minutes away from my grandson, who I go to visit about every month or so. I don't have anywhere else to stay when I'm in town, so I stay with her.She complains about every thing. Every little thing. Every insignificant thing. There has not been a time when I've stayed with her that I haven't been uncomfortable. Like being under a microscope, being examined (and found inadequate) at each step.I can't stay away from her, because she's my mother and I love her. She's old now, and not doing too well. She claims she wants me to come, but her negativity feeds my depression and sometimes when I've stayed with her for the night I feel so bad it takes days to recover.I like to drink coffee. Sometimes, I like to put a little cinnamon in when it is brewing. Last year, she gave her cinnamon away to someone so that there wouldn't be any in her house. Then she brought out a separate coffee maker for me to make coffee in becaue she claims that my coffee is too strong. She only buys the "special roast", which is very strong, and I make it the way I always make coffee, but she likes it half strength, which is just awful tasting to me. We had an argument on the phone about the coffee, because she wants it weak, but buys the strong coffee. I bought some Folgers Singles to try to solve the problem. She'll complain now about me using her tea pot to make coffee.I can't win with her and I can't avoid her.
