Ive been thinking today about what is normal? A lot of people on this web site, including myself, all seem to be striving to be more normal but what if we ARE the more normal of the human race?
Look at it this way, how many people do you know that have mental health issues? i know loads and yet we are the ones made to feel inadequate. Maybe its because it is something we are all taught to fear, the possibility of 'losing it', of not being in control, but what if that is just a natural reaction to the way the world is developing?
The world has changed so much in the last 50 to 60 years that it is almost unrecognisable, everything seems to have to go at a 100 miles an hour and we are expected to keep up with it without complaint. Why?,is what i ask myself, we are not superhuman. So much technological advancement means that we are far more aware of the problems that come with living a modern life, and we all seem to have unreachable goals ahead of us. Maybe i am too busy thinking of the pesamistic angle of this but there are times i just want to stop the world and get off.
Hopefully one day everyone will again take the time to look at the world through rose coloured glasses and not be so quick to categorise people into little pidgeon holes to make dealing with them easier. Being ostresized is a very hurtful and damaging thing as is now being shown on the news with the serbian sanitariums! How anyone that is said to have a consience could think that is the way adults and children should be treated is unforgivable. I suppose that is one thing to be grateful for in this day and age, that we are part of the 'civilised west'.
