This week my Darlin and I went to his Mum's funeral. She died four months after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. The funeral was so disappointing. The priest got her name wrong several times and in the prayers referred to her as 'he'. He never smiled once and was completely disconnected from the mourners. We have thought about the whole thing over and over and the best explanation we can come up with is that he had been drinking! It was not a good send off and as a funeral celebrant I found the whole thing sad and unprofessional.I know we should just move on, after all, Pat wouldn't care now what was said about her.To add insult to injury one of her daughters behaved so badly during the service - chatting innanely throughout the service and playing with her grandchild. ....The best thing I can say is that it's over and we're home again.

I am so sorry to hear about your disappointing experience! When my brother died, the priest specifically asked what we called him during the service since he was unsure. You are right that Pat really wouldn\'t care, but that is not the point. Remember though that the priest is just a man and therefore makes mistakes...
And I\'m sorry for your loss, but Pat lives on in your hearts! xoxoxo Cj
Thanks Cj,I appreciate your comments. We have really focused on remembering her life, rather than her death, and I know that nasty little taste in our mouths will pass. Jill
