Saga of the Needle Bin Because I'd been injecting with anti coagulants as well as rebif recently my little needle bin soon got full.I'm new in town so wasnt sure where to go to get a replacement.Rang the lady from the MS Society who was symathetic but didn't have any answer beyond offering a replacement bin.My first problem was disposal of the bin. I'm a little enviro conscious so I wasn't going to put it in the normal trash. In town outside the big supermarket is a huge needle disposal bin - but its in an area frequented by rather unsavoury types and I just didnt fancy dropping my little bin in there in front of a crowd. One day when I came out of the supermarket the was a huge brawl right besde the needle bin and within minutes three police cars were on the scene. I couldnt see this was a solution and anyway, I still needed a new bin.I rang the council who told me there was a needle disposal bin outside the supermarket - yarh , I already KNEW that!Rang the chemist. They could sell me a new bin but wouldn't take the full one.Talked to the doctors surgery. They had no idea. They pay someone to collect their sharps and weren't interested in taking someone else's waste. Then I had a brain wave. Where do the addicts go ?Rang the Alcohol and Drug line and then was passed on to the woman who runs the needle exchange program. Finally got onto Ruth there who told me where her rooms were. Yes, they would not only take my full bin, but provide a new one, no charge. Here's the funny part - this service is situated at the local hospital. Now wouldn't you think that all these people I spoke to would have known about this service?I drove to the hospital, went into the office , did the exchange without any trouble.I realise this is such a small thing but I felt some sense of triumph solving the problem for myself.

I\'ve got several months worth of pointless needles and needle points saved up. No one seems to know what to do with them. BTW, I use one of those needle nippers. Supposedly the little thing holds thousands of those little buggers..... Anyway, I am looking forward to feeling the same triumph..:o)

Cleveland Clinic\'s Mellon Center taught me to put my needles in a laundry detergent bottle and put them in the regular trash... I to am environmental, and my dentist (who was also a personal friend) took my full bins and gave me new ones... Really, this should have been set-up for you in advance... It\'s bad enough when we\'re on a treatment and have to jab ourselves... Ugh... Not wanting to return to that myself, and seems that I\'ll never get the financial assistance here in the U.S. and I\'m \"too poor\" to afford the treatments anyway...

Instead, I am currently raging on with steroids... The good news is that a knife and my wrist has yet to come to mind... (I AM KIDDING HERE, but you get the drama though which I\'m living... All I want is some help, but men are too stupid to realise that...) xoxoxo Cj
